I own a pest control company, and I will tell you how to help get rid of fleas. However, some poisons will have to be used to complete the job. There is really no way around it if you want it done quickly.

First, make sure that your dog is being treated with vet quality treatments like frontline or advantage. If you are completely opposed to that type of treatment, you can try (which isn't as effective, but will work long somewhat after time) is give the dog brewer's yeast with garlic tablets. You can buy these at any pet store, and sometimes in Walmart in the animal supplement section.

Second, vacuum. Just vacuum like there is no tomorrow! If you have a vacuum bag, throw the bag out after every vacuuming. (Even if you vacuum 2 or 3 times a day!) If you use a bagless vacuum, put a flea collar inside the catch container and dump it outside in the trash after every use. (keeping the flea caller in the catch container) NEVER STEAM CLEAN YOUR RUGS DURING THIS TIME!!! You will only hatch the eggs and make the situation worse!

Finally, you must treat the outside with a poison. The major breeding ground for fleas is outside in your yard. If you don't treat it, you will just keep re-infesting your home. Outside I would use Demon WP mixed with Gentrol or Nylar, carefully following label instructions. Treat the entire yard, paying special attention to under bushes and low hanging branches. Most of these products can be bought at any Do-It-Yourself Pest Control company either on line or in a store.

Just remember, the more you vacuum, the more fleas, larvae, and eggs you will remove from your living environment. The more you remove the less that can reproduce. Good luck!

you have to be patient. try using baths with special shampoo AND frontline. wait a week or so. maybe cange from frontline to some other brands. same with the shampoo. you should especially check with your vet to see if they can prescirbe some kind of medication. if not, they might share some ideas.
