i have been working out with this new equipment my uncle gave me to excercise with. so far i have lost about 25 pounds in 5 months. I have also been dieting and drinking alot of water. Now when i try to work out i find it harder to focus. I try different things but i always find myself giving up after a long time. does any one else have a way that i can get myself motivated? And is this normal to happen to people?

It sounds to me that you hit a plateau. You may want to change things up a bit. A plateau is where your body has conditioned itself and is use to the workout you are doing.

Do some circuit training. That is doing different parts of the body in one sitting doing 8 to 10 reps each without resting. This will increase your strength, gain muscle mass and lose fat. Also, do compound exercises. These are exercises that focus on more that one muscle group.

Finally, intensify your workouts. Go as fast as you can. Not only is if fun but you don't spend all day on the machine.

As for motivating yourself... Set your goals again and try to obtain them. Check out www.meanshealth.com, www.absdiet.com, google "total body weight loss and strength training" this can lead you to some interesting sites.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck.

I work out all of the time, but if I did not have a partner to work out with, I would skip oout all of the time. Get a partner to work out with you, and you will be motivated and will not give up. It is completely normal to want to stop working out, because there is so much to do, and lifting weights/running nowhere seems to be something not worthwhile. However, you are getting in better shape and having results so that is reason enough

This is normal you should try and get a workout buddy that will help motivate you. if there is two of you, you can't say no to your buddy.
I hope this works out for you!!
