CP doesn't mean that the girl(s) had to be intrinsically sick. My son has CP and he was perfectly healthy until the day of his birth. Something happened that traumatized him, and the pressure caused his brain to bleed (a stroke). Basically, this is the basis of CP. The cerebrovascular accident (cva) can happen in any part of the brain (this is why all CP patients are different in symptoms and severity) and happen at any time where there is trauma, elevated blood pressure, or under formation of the brain tissue. To put it simply, something happened to her, probably in the womb that did not happen to the other sister. Hope this helps....

Actually, there are psychological studies done with monozygotic (identical) twins. They're watched for things like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc. If a disorder appears in one twin, there is often a higher chance that it will occur in the other twin-- but it is only a chance, and usually the chance is below 50%.
Even though these twins came from the same zygote and have an identical appearence, that is no guarantee that they will both have the same brain disorders.
I think cerebral palsy is something that can develop, not a misshape of the brain one is born with. (So you can't think of it like one twin being born with a deformed thumb means the other will have a deformed thumb-- cerebral palsy is not a deformation of the brain, but a problem that may or may not develop later in life.)

Cerebral palsy is caused by a brain injury or problem that occurs during fetal growth, birth, or within the first 2 to 3 years of life.
It is not unrealistic that one twin would have it and the other not.

Yes one could suffer brain damage during birth while the other didn't.. Cerebral palsy as far as I know isn't a genetic disorder.. It is usually caused by brain damage caused by some sort of incident.. example squeezing of the unformed skull during the birthing process.. Scaring the brain,,, This is the case with my cousin .
In any event people with it learn to deal with it better over time. my cousin sure did anyway. You can hardly tell she has it now but she could hardly walk as a child.
She is now a mother of a normal little boy.

because cerebral palsy is a malformation of the brain, which can be caused by alot of things, alot of which is unknown yet.
all twins have is the same genetic blueprint - how that blueprint is made into a real person depends on alot of things.
kinda like two people are copying stuff from a blackboard. one screwed up copying, while the other one didn't.

Because identical twins develop from one original egg that splits. After the egg splits, if one of the new eggs doesn't develop properly it will only affect one child.

There can be chromosonal differences, even in identical twins.
