Good luck getting an answer from real life WWII vets. They're all getting up there in age, and probably not hanging out on Yahoo answers.
My Grandad thought all the movies made war look too clean. He said war is all about pain, dirt, bad smells and destruction, and the troops in the movies always looked way too clean and non-bloody. He said everyone had blood on their uniform, whether it was from wounds, (theirs or someone elses) or just skinned knucles or knees, and that after about a month, their uniform stayed in the shape of their body, even when they weren't in it.

They hate the show. Believe it or not, they hate the fact that it shows them as the good guys and the Germans as the bad guys.
There were thousands of German soldiers doing their duty only because they wanted to work and feed their families. They also wanted to defend their land. That's all. Do you know how many German soldiers HATED Hitler and the Nazi idealogy? Thousands among thousands. All these men fled to the Allied side throughout the war.
The American vets pity and show sympathy to the 17 year old German soldiers who were forced to wear the grey uniforms and fight against American GI's.
And they hate this show which DID NOT explore the personalities of those German soldiers and that showed them killing these men just because they were wearing gray German uniforms.

I interviewed a infantry Vet of the Battle of the Bulge and his favorite is the movie "Battleground." He claims it to be the most accurate portrayal of WW2 ETO combat.

My grandfather refused to watch any television series or movie about the war the entire time I was growing up . Other than that I can't tell you - as he passed away last Easter.
