I always wanted to go to a deserted island with a few friends and camp there for about a week and live off the natural resources. Of course I would bring adequate supply of food, water, etc. but I would try and use the island for its resources like a true camper. I would make my own shelter, climb trees for coconuts, etc, lol. Now my question to everyone is if you can give any tips and also if you know of an island where this is possible? Is there a way I can dock a boat there or even access it? Also to help you understand my geographic location I am located in Flordia so I'm not trying to go across the world for this, lol. Thanks and hope you guys/gals can help. ;)

Your Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary has dozens of deserted islands which you can boat or kayak to, and camp on, though there are tons of regulations which you'll have to learn and obey in order to protect the natural environment. You might be able to collect a few coconuts, but building your own shelter might be going too far? http://floridakeys.noaa.gov/visitor_information/welcome.html

Realistically, that's a lot harder than you might think. First finding the spot. You might work your way up to it by going to the Florida Keys, paddle a kayak out to the out bask, find a little island there, get off and see how long you last before the bugs devour you.

If you've never actually been in a survival situation, you might be astonished at how quickly it stops being fun.
