My cat tries to go to sleep on my head! When I move her she goes and sleeps on top of my legs. Maybe she thinks I'm going to get away or something. I like having her on the bed regardless of where she sleeps. I consider myself lucky!

For companionship and/or warmth, depending on the weather. My cat will come under the covers and sleep against my belly on particularly cold nights. When she was my nana's cat, she'd sleep at nana's feet.

The cat knows from past experience that humans roll in their sleep and also it is a little cooler.

I think it is for warmth and for protection. My cat always lays on my legs and feet so we are both toasty. I also think it's sort of a protective measure, they like to feel you there so they know where you are and they are still bonded to you without being right on your head. My cat now sleeps sometimes between myself and my boyfriend's feet.

Maybe the end of the bed is comfy for your cat.

Mine does the same thing. He'll come up to my face and say goodnight and goodmorning, but always retreats to the end of the bed.

They want to be close to you but away from distracting noises (snoring, heavy breathing, etc.) -- They are on duty guarding the sleep area and only lightly sleeping (remember they are nocturnal.)

My cats sleep there because they have their own little spot with a pillow and baby blanket.

bcuz the blanket or comforter is all bunched up, which is more comfortable, and because there is more space for them to elongate their bodies. plus, because they have good hearing they don't like the sound of snoring, or talking in your sleep or just breathing, which is heavied when you are sleeping
