If you don't care if you lose the original names and they are all in one folder, highlight them all, then go to the last one and right click on it. Pick 'rename', give it a name and press enter. It will give ALL the same name, followed by a sequential number in parenthesis like (101)

There are batch renamer programs out there but windows xp can do a batch rename of sorts for you. Open the folder that contains the files you wish to rename.

Hit Ctrl-A to select all the files (they will be highlighted) Then right click on the first file in your list. Rename it using the file name you wish to use for example cool songs and hit enter.

The rest of the files will be called cool songs also but they will be numbered and read cool songs (1) cool songs (2) and so on.

try looking on google for a 'file renamer' program. with XP you can click edit, select all, right click the first file and click rename, then type the name that you want.
each file will be named like
song (1)
song (2)
song (3)
but every file will have the same name, it will just have a number at the end.
