if we grant amnesty to 12-20 million illegals who will end up voting for the party that offers the biggest hand out, will this happen to the US?
Alexander Fraser Tytler made this interesting observation about democracy in 1776: “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. [Tytler describes the life cycle of civilization as from Bondage to Spiritual Faith to Great Courage to Liberty to Abundance to Selfishness to Complacency to Apathy to Dependency and back into Bondage.]” There are several significant points about Tytler’s remark. One is that voting is the means to ensla

Several times the United States has granted amnesty to people from other countries. During the Carter Administration and during the Regan administration. there were amnesty programs It seem that the U.S. has a history of granting amnesty every few years depending on the public sentiment at the time. That sentiment usually comes around at Election time It has never ruined our country. Granted it has caused problems however we as a notion have always worked through them.

Public outcry since 9-11 has changed the old election year sentiment with regards to another amnesty program. Weather it happens or not it will be just like the last time. It won't ruin our country this time either. There will be problems no doubt but we will work though them as we have before.

If Alexander Fraser Tyler was correct in his observations then it would seem that he was incorrect because in the history of the United States and our present form of Government this hasn't happened. We have in our Constitution, a set of checks and balances that protects the needs and desires of the many and not the needs and desires of the few.
Consider the fall of the Soviet Union and Communism. I think you will see that Democracy is the best answer. Tyler was wrong. The right to vote is not the means to Enslave. It is the exact opposite, It is the means to Free. AFTER ALL.....Why then do so many other nationalities want to live in the United States under our form of government. We are the land of the free and there are oppertunities for everyone with the desire to seek them.

Yes. In fact, just ignoring existing law has caused this demise to begin and take hold.

The U.S. can get 10 TIMES the labor it needs at half what we pay illegals. We can get it thru the "INS Lottery". And they'd all be 100% accountable and legal.

If they come to sell cocaine, no decent person wants them. If they come to work, it is because whatever they've done to Mexico has destroyed an economy already and they're bringing those instruments of destruction here - CLEARLY! - because they're being rewarded for disregarding law and the respect there for.

So, WHYYY?!?!?!? Why do we cry maudlin for blindness when sight is at hand? We know that LEGAL, English-speaking immigrants await their chance!

Their children are hungrier than those in Mexico, but according to pro-illegals, are a lesser children, unworthy of help. Imposters. Spoilers. Their hunger and pain is an illusion, unlike the discomfort of those worthy of "amnesty".

The only explanation for this persistent tunnel-vision is drug-money. Nothing else stands up to unbiased scrutiny. Nothing!

So call a spade a spade and let those who will graffiti capitol hill and the white house with cocaine paraphernalia and pot leaves!

Time for an all-out Jeffersonian Revolution!!

Let the organizing begin!

No matter with the potential consequences in the electing process, granting amnesty would just make it more likely for yet more illegal aliens to cross the border. This was already done before, and if we do it again it will appear as if the US is weak. So more people will cross the border, and then, before you know it, we have to grant amnesty again since there are so many illegals. The process will keep repeating, and before you know it,the country will be over populated and forever changed.

This biggest thing to remember is none of us will live forever, we should live our short time free of the greed of owening and controling everything in our path, this for the most part is why so many countrys dislike us, as far as ruin to this country, last time i looked it was way past ruined and if we want to blame a race of people, look in the mirror,we have become the fatest lazyest most uneducated greedy humans on the planet, and to prove my point'' how many times have we watched our government take advantage of our trust and we said or did nothing about it, 2 nights ago a watched FRONTLINE on PBS they did interviews of national intelegance personel who said they felt so bad that they where forced to make up misleading information about sadam and IRAQ just so a war could be launched to drum up buisness for dick chainey and rumsfields companys, yet as many americans watched this program nothing happened, no one has said a word about how many american kids got killed for nothing, some one should stand up to the missconduct driven by greed in our government, but we are to lazy even to defend our selfs agianst our dishonist government, this country is ours, not theirs -they work for us we do not work for them we owen them they do not owen us, why can't people remember the history that brought us all to the new americas, it was government over taxing and poverty and sickness from poverty, this country is truly on its way down and japan and china will be the new world powers not us, and we let it happen in front of our nose's, and the ruin will contenue until we take control of our future its as simple as that.

yes, amnesty will ruin this country adding millions more illegal immigrants into this already crowded US. Draining our public asssistance programs until theres nothing left for our own citizens. I hope it never happens, but knowing the politicians it will, all they seem to care about are votes!

First, since when do immigrants vote? I like the observation of Tytler (theory similar to the democracy to Marxist-state cycle), Although most likely an amnesty won't ruin the US because anyway immigrants contribute to economy and government by law can't deny them some services like health and education.
