I recently lost 100+ pounds and am working hard on getting into shape... i would like to get a tattoo symbolizing change or overcoming adversity or something like that, but have no idea where to look... any ideas? a friend suggested the butterfly in the cocoon but i want something more masculine

I know shamalama already said a phoenix rising from the ash, but I really like that idea because the bird destroys itself only to rise anew. I like the symbolism.

Try watching something like Miami/LA/London Ink, although you may not see exactly what you want, it will give you some ideas. You will be able to see how tattoo's look on different parts of the body and you will be able to see what areas you like tattooed. It will also give you ideas on how to research tattoo ideas, and approach an artist to make sure you get what you really want.

it used to be truckers, and bikers, and military getting tatoos of there own ideas for things in there lifes... now tattoos are a dime a dozon and for someone to get something that symbolizes somethng they have done but have someone else pic it of make it up ...kind of defeats the perpose.... our world can even thing for themselves any more.... I respect the people without tattoos....kuz ur the ones who really are the originally ones now... tattoos are a dime a dozen and just repeats of everyone elses. lol
