Well, there is no such thing as the perfect relationship, which I'm sure you already know, and why would you want to skip the dating part? That is the best part! All the love notes, little stolen kisses, spontaneous gifts, holding hands, kissing in the rain....these little things tend to fade over time, Faux Pas, it's just natural for many people. The closest relationship to perfect, in my opinion, is one that feels like dating(just that one person of course) all the time, without fail. Dates are not just for single people. Granted, I rarely dated more than one person at the same time in my day(though I had a lot of boyfriends!) and I married young, but....well yeah, the dating part, even with its downside, is the fun part, in my opinion :)
I hope you don't mind that I answered your question, me being married and all.....

First of all, there is no perfect relationship. It's only how you may feel in your currrent relationship. Dating provides a chance for you to discover different types of people and personalities. This way, you can gain knowledge of what you truly want and if there is true compatibility and chemistry.

No. The point of dating is to get to know someone better than just a 'friend'

Yup. It costs about $100 an hour. Other than that, you have to invest something of yourself to get back any sort of physical return.
