Only if they are under the care of their psychologist, psychiatrist, or other medical provider/mental health facility. Most HMO's PPO's and other health care providers view hypochondria as a valid mental/medical issue. In addition it is covered by the FMLA, or Family Medical Leave Act, which is governed by the labor board, on a federal, and state level.

Yes, just because you are a hypochondriac...it does not mean that you don't get real illnesses.
