Bible is allegorical. The 7 days of creation has a esoteric meaning, one of great importance from the prospective of enlightenment and nature of mind and being. People would be so privileged if they only exercised their intellect. 7 days then rest, 7 churches, 7 seals then the book of life is opened... 12 tribes, 12 Apostles, 12 foundations, 12 fruits on the tree of life. These are allegorical, none of this is to be applied outside of oneself. The earth is a billion years old, formed by natural laws of the universe.

There were literal days of creation. In Genesis chapter 1, Bible says, "and the evening and the morning were the first day", "...second day,,,"... "third day..." and so on. Even fourth commandment about keeping the Seventh-day, Sabbath, holy, testifies about literal 6 days of creation. Exodus 20:11 - For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth,... Why do people have such trouble admitting God is able to create in literal days, not needing thousand years for creation? Else, he wouldn't be really God. But our greatest problem is disbelief.

By using a man-made concept, such as time, one can describe how powerful the Deity is, e.g; God created the world in six (24 hour) days.
Saying that makes the Deity seem much more powerful (and thus, Divine) than saying "And God created the world in 6 billion years."

And what's even worse, is they say he has no convention of time. Why the stupid schedule for an ultimate being eh? Why the hell didn't he just snap his fingers or think of this place and voila! makes you wonder eh. If God needs a break, we deserve a break. Grab a Kit Kat!

God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in it in 6 days and rested the 7th. day. I believe He rested on the seventh day as an example to us.
