I'm pagan, and there's definately a lot of criticism going both directions. SOME Christians will tell pagans they're evil devil-worshippers and will burn in hell, which understandbly annoys some pagans. SOME pagans will turn around and criticize ALL Christians for being critical like this. The way I see it, most religions are about loving other people. If everyone could stop argueing and just focus on that, the world would probably be a better place.

christians have gone out of their way to force their belief on others from the beginning - remember the witch trials and before that the followers killed all who practiced anything other then christianity-check your history books) and now that "pagans, heathens & atheists" are standing up for their belief and ways, the christians are having fits and crying "hypocrite". A christian can place a large cross in their yard and all must accept it and not complain. If a Pagan were to place a pentacle or a Hebrew the star of David of same size in their yard it brings slander, violence and harassment from the "outsiders". Maybe if the mass of chrisitian followers showed more respect to the other religions and did not shove their bible belief on everyone, this question would not have needed to be asked. Enjoy your new year!

Picture this. It's Sunday afternoon. You have steaks on the BBQ .You're enjoying your day off with a few close friends.A couple of well dressed/clean cut young men stop by to share their personal beliefs. You don't know these people. You thank them and politely ask them to leave, this is a private residence. But they don't leave. If fact ,they become more adamant about you believing the way they do or face .immortal danger. Again you ask them to leave. They insist you take reading material from them. I'm not positive, but I think just about all of you have experienced, or heard about these kind of people. Are these Pagans? Noooo Are these Atheists? Noooo Are these hypocrites ? Mmmm, maybe Are these Christians ? BINGO ! We have a winner ! What was the question again? Oh yeah. Why do we harass & abuse Christians ? Because we're mean

Oops. Sounds to Me like someone lost the plot somewhere between "turn the other cheek", and "love thy neighbor". Now do You see why We have a go at You? It's because You spit the dummy with such enthusiasm.
"Live and let live"? With Christianity's history of intolerance and bellicose behavior? You seriously think that We are going to left You off quite so lightly? I think not! It's all just good clean fun, not unlike the Spanish Inquisition or The Crusades. Get over Yourself and get used to the fact that Others DO have a right to Their views and opinions!
So endeth the lesson.
PS: Please in the future show Us the common courtesy of using capital letters when writing the nouns 'Pagan', 'Atheist', 'Heathen' etc., We may be Godless "athetiests"(?), but we do have feelings (and can spell).

My dear child,

When was the last time that a Pagan/Heathen told you you were gong to suffer eternal torment because you don't believe what we do?

I rarely push back...but when you get any kind of less-than-pleasant stuff from me, it's a *reaction*, not instigation..

I'm pretty darn content to live and let live. There is a point at which I get thoroughly tired, however, of y'all showing up on perfectly respectful questions about OUR religion and saying that we worship "Satan" (we don't) or that we're evil or doomed to spend eternity in "hell" or the other nonsense about animal sacrifice or orgies or whatever you dream up in your salacious little minds; all of which says nothing true about US, but reveals quite a bit about how YOUR minds work.

So get off your high horse, Young one, and try a little self-examination and courageous honesty. You might get to like it.

And, for the record, I've scolded other Pagans here when they have gone over the line of good manners when they vented about Christians.

Now run along and play.

We're all equally as bad. You are no better than them and they are no better than you. We are all human beings with passions and weakness. It is best not to judge anyone or call anyone names. You obviously are angry and hurt for some reason. Your viewpoint seems to be limited in that you are saying pagans etc. are hypocrits...however are you not living and letting others live when you go on a crusade of some sort to save souls? If you are not personally doing this....then don't call yourself a "Chrisitan" because most people do connotate it with negative ideas...and its not necessarily that they don't even believe in God...however most people can recognize that it is ridiculous that if you don't follow a certain dictate your going to hell (for example). You are representing this whether you like it or not. If you truly Love God or want to live your life in a humble way...you can start by taking another look at whether you are even truly following what the Bible says...like Love thy neighbor.

From a documentary I learned the whole Christmas Tradition is all based on pagan cultures and traditions.
So I’m now confused why some Christians are running around condemning pagans...

You are probably right but Christians taught atheists how to do it. As a Christian I have to accept that as a collective group we are made look pretty bad by those who call themselves 'lover's of God' but treat their fellow human beings with contempt. It is no human beings place to judge another on matters of spirutuality. As a Christian my role in life is to share what I believe (what has turned my life around and given me joy I couldn't have imagined before I knew God) with others in the hope that they might be able to know God's love as I do. It they choose to disregard what I say then I can only feel sorry for them - unfortunately some Christians feel that the best way to share God is to point the finger and play judge - this doesn't share God, it shares Satan.

Crustians are such clowns, How about a check on how to spell "atheist" because athetistiasticlianists tend to get sarcausticistic about stuff like that.

Now, seriously, I could not agree with you more. This petty bickering must stop. We must remember the lessons the religious have taught us in how to deal with those who believe differently than we do. If anybody has the fire wood and rope I know where to find a few steaks and stray crustacians.

I think there are a lot of insecure, immature people on both sides of the debate, honestly. I think everyone who complains about how hoirrible such-and-such group is needs to get over the persecution complex and worry about their own issues instead of what the neighbors believe.
