A friend of mine recently bought a snake and now is having second thoughts about it's "biblical signifigance"

We are wondering if the bible says anything about this or if there is any insight anyone can give.

if snakes were evil, would God have instructed noah to put them on the ark? snakes are a part of God's creation, satan happened to use one for an evil purpose. God has used snakes for good. when aaron cast down his staff before the pharoh, it became a serpent. pharoh called his wise men, who cast down theirs, and they became serpents. Arron's snake ate their snakes, because God is more powerful than any forces of darkness. no animal is inheritly evil.

I've read the Bible through front to back several times and I've never seen anything, that I can remember, that says owning a snake is evil. Some snakes are very beneficial to their surroundings. They kind of creep people out and to be honest there are a lot of pets that are a bit more cuddly but I don't know of any biblical significance about it, unless you are endangering your life or someone else's life by owning it.
Aside from biblical issues, if your friend is having second thoughts, he or she should return it. Snakes take very special kinds of owners, because they require special care and handling.

I am a Minister, and until a couple of years ago, I had 3 Snakes. I only let them loose, (Why bother buying when you can capture ?),
because I no longer have the time to devote to them.

There is nothing evil about a Snake. The issue with The Serpent and Eve was never meant to vilify all Snakes. In the Book of Exodus the Snake is a Symbol of Healing, Jesus used that same reference to describe Himself . If Snakes were Evil would Jesus use them as a reference to Himself ? No.

Of course not; some religious groups even use them in their worship.
Snake Handlers are more generally known as the Church of God with Signs Following. Under this umbrella term falls the loosely organized "Pentecostal churches, ministers and itinerent preachers popularly known as snake handlers." The practice itself developed out of the Pentecostal-Holiness movement which flourished in the first two decades of the twentieth century (Melton 1996, 636).

No, it's not. Just ebcause Satan decided to manifest as a snake does not mean that owning a snake is evil. Snakes are just another one of God's great creations!

Moses held up a staff with a snake on it, in Exodus for both healing and punishment in Numbers. Our present day medical community uses the symbol of the serpent for healing.

There is only one snake that was evil, the one in the tree (which was actually Satan). Snakes were cursed to crawl along on their bellies and to have enmity between themselves and people.

Snakes themselves are not evil. If your friend likes her snake, tell her there is no problem.

Owning a snake is not evil. It's one of God's creations. Yes, the snake represents many things that are evil, but owning one I believe is not.

No it is not evil to own a snake. If the snake starts whispering lies into your ear, maybe following its will and listening to it would be.
