Ah! The watch maker theory!

How do you come up with that stuff, really?

I am a deist, not an atheist, and I don't believe there is a physical God, but I do believe that there is a force that unites us all through spirit. But, I will do the best to answer your question.

Humans did not appear by accident. We are the highest intellectually capable beings resulting from a long line of evolutionary processes beginning with the formation of amino acids into biologicallly functioning organisms billions of years ago. We are not products of a being that merely swiped His or Her hand over the world and gave rise to a new species. We are as naturally created as the bacterium inside our stomachs. We aren't supernaturally created and we aren't products of a greater being. We are simply the result of evolution and we shouldn't attempt to give our supernaturally ideologies more credit than they deserve, instead we should admire the complexities of the chemistry and biological process that lead to our creation.

Everything needs a creator but the creator itself... that's simply absurd. The famous watchmaker defense made famous by Paley is a very funny one indeed. It says that if one were to find a watch they would automatically assume that it was created by a watchmaker correct? Of course! well then, the earth must have a creator? WRONG! There is a precedent for the watchmaker, there is no precedent for an earth-maker... only conjecture. And this argument is fundamentally flawed in the sense that the watchmaker was born to parents who were in turn born to their parents, so on, and so forth... The watch maker didn't simply pop into existence.

The answer to your question is, the appearance of design does not dictate that something was, in fact, designed.

Yes I thought about it. I thought about the watch. I even took it off and looked at it. I thought how could this watch have evolved? How could it be here and nobody made it?

Then I thought about God.
God didn't appear just by accident did he? The church people are trying to tell me no one made God. They are acting just like the atheists, so I'm glad you brought that up.

Next the church people come knocking I'll tell them almost exactly what you said: GOD COULDN'T HAVE APPEARED BY ACCIDENT NOW COULD HE? Cause they're trying to tell me nobody made God.

Bunch of strange Baptists or whatever they are.
I know there's a Biggod, and Biggod built God, and God built man and man built the watch. Don't listen to those crazy church people. They are just atheists in drag.

Wow. I like your thinking. It's so refreshingly new. I've never read such insightful questions before. Is this related to Christ saying to his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemene, "Wait and WATCH with me"?

You lost me when you moved from a WATCH to a human. I was an accident. At least that's what I was told over and over as a kid.

Are you joking?

Why do you people keep dusting off the oldest and lamest arguments and presenting them as though you just thought of them and they're revolutionary?

The simplest way to refute this one: If nothing appears by accident and everything needs a maker, who created god?

No, the watch did not appear out of thin air - The diamonds, metal, and copper in the watch were already part of the earth.

Yea, that's really going to convince every Atheist right? lol.
If you want them to believe in God you better try a hell of a lot harder than that.

BTW I'm a Christian, I just don't believe we were magically set here 6000 years ago.
Oh and don't call an Atheist an "ATHEIST", shouting and making it into slur like that. You're not going to convince anyone through mockery.

Penicillin was created (yes by humans) but by accident, so whos to say the universe didn't just have an accident?

Only a human would use this example. There is a way that atoms can self-assemble. It's called evolution through natural selection. Try science.

We didn't happen by accident. We happened by natural processes that we currently call Evolution.

Question for you - How did your god come about? He couldn't have just appeared by accident, could he?
