I don't blame you one bit; I'm not sure I'd want a dog with three kids, and Min Pins can be a lot of work. If you really don't want him, it's best to be honest with yourself and find him a good home. It's no good for him to be getting neglected, because no one wants to take care of him. If your husband insists on keeping him, make it his resposibility to take care of the dog. Otherwse, find him a fantastic and loving home where he will be appreciated and cared for. I've learned the hard way, that if you can't take care of a dog, there's no use beating yourself up about it. Sometimes, life just gets in the way, and honestly (despite what some people may tell you) kids are more important than pets. You did a fantastic thing by rescuing him in the first place, and now he gets to go to a new home where he will live happily for the rest of his life.
Hope this helps...

This is an unfortunate situation for both the dog and your children. If you give the dog away, you are showing your children that it is okay to dispose of a living thing that has become boring or incovenient. This is part of the reason our rescue shelters and streets are filled with unwanted animals. If you keep it, but do not provide the proper care, it is unfair to the animal. If the dog is really a problem, I suggest you start advertising "FREE to good home" ASAP. Hopefully, you can find the animal a family that will actually take care of it. If your husband is really pushing to keep the dog, have him and your children take it for walks and play with it. This will teach your kids that dogs need to be cared for and will provide time for your husband and children to bond.

Our hormones act up when we are pregnant and sometimes everything seems so enormous. Just try to wait it out. If your husband is so much in love with the dog, then maybe he should be helping you out by taking him out more when he can. Have the six year old take him out with you supervising. It will be good for the child to have some responsibility . Also have the six year old give the dog food and water. The six year old would probably feel pretty good doing adult things.... Just a few suggestions

My goodness. If I lived near youand did not have 3 chihuahuas I would take the dog. Dogs are a lot of work , as are kids, but that would not make me get rid of him just due to the added work. Actually though, for the best interest of the dog , you should place and ad in the pennysaver, " free to good home" It deserves a loving home and good care. Place an ad at the vets office on the bulletin board. And please don't get another dog, this is unfair and cruel.

It could be the hormones talking. How long have you had the dog? Did you have it before your other pregnancies? (And if so, do you remember feeling the same way then?)
If you really don't want him -- and your husband isn't accepting responsibility for its care -- then the dog needs to be re-homed. It's not fair to him to be in a home where he's being neglected physically and emotionally.

If you do not want your dog you should bring him to a no kill shelter. I would look if there are animal rescue leagues in your area too for the type of dog. They will take the dog and put him in the right home. Other than that you should find a good home for the dog yourself.

I raised 6 kids, 2 of my own and 4 stepkids. I always had pets and I was able to take care of the kids, the pets, the house and we had a big house. Really, how much work can one dog be?

Hello, First of all don't jump the gun too quickly. If you don't want to regret getting rid of your dog, I'd wait until after the baby is born and decide than, just in case it is your hormones thinking. You also don't want to go against your husband's wishes, if he should like to keep it. Also, if he wants it, why isn't he helping out with it?

tell your husband that is he wants to keep the dog, that he has to take care of it. if you decide to get rid of him, post ads in the newspaper, online, at petstores, the vet and at the humane society. then interview the people to make sure he goes to a good home. use actually taking him to the pound or humane society as a last option, because if he goes there, there is a chance he could be put to sleep. good luck with your decision and with your pregnancy!

Dogs have a right to be loved and cared for, do the dog a favor and find someone who can love and care for him. Pets are not disposable. Thank you for rescuing him but he deserves better, do a web search for minpin rescue and they will take him.
