and expect us to go "My god, you're absolutely right?"

At what point will you realize that quoting Biblical scripture at us is not going to change our minds. We do not believe the Bible is true - YOU do, and that's why you're Christians.

Christians: If I quoted the Quran at you saying that belief that Jesus is the son of god is false, would you change your religion? Would you stop believing that Jesus is god's son just because the Quran says so? Why not? I mean, a book SAYS SO, so it MUST be true, right?

Tara, before you give me the trite "the Bible says so" bull, show me ONE verse in the Bible that says you should quote the Bible to unbelievers. You can't, because there WAS no "Bible" when the books were being written. Therefore, the Bible DOESN'T say so.

Chooz, I sure as heck don't listen to some make-believe book. You want me to listen to Christianity? Give me some good logical reasons to be a Christian. Show me how Christianity makes people better, happier, nicer people. Show some statistics. Anything, really, other than some moldy old book that claims donkeys can talk when angels touch them.

Sorry, Nick, but the Timothy verse applies only to teaching scripture to believers, not for witnesses. Nice try though. :p

It's really hard for some of them to wrap their brains around this concept.

It requires trying to see things through some one elses point of view.

i'm disillusioned by potential of the type you suggested your question because of the fact it shows which you're no longer particularly open to looking solutions or searching for certainty. regrettably many Christians fall into the comparable type. If i ought to respond to with desire which you ought to certainly pay attention, Christians who're clever do no longer use the Bible to coach it rather is certainty. rather, they use historic information, and confident, there's a ton, to coach that that's genuine. merely ask a pair of atheists that in actual fact got down to coach it replaced into incorrect. I have not have been given something against Harry Potter, and particularly, we very own all the books so some distance. I trust the guy who wrote, examine the Bible and then make a judgement. i think the comparable with regards to the Christians who merely flat out condemn the Harry Potter books. in case you do come to a sort to seek for certainty, and enable go of your prejudgements approximately faith, i'm chuffed to verbal substitute. i'm no longer the best individual, yet I savor good conversations. :-)

OK

2Timothy 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Here's the NLT version:

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.

Because the Bible is God's Words to us and is a guideline to our walk with Him. It is not our job to make or break anyone believe in God. Jesus said that if we lift Him up(He is the Word), He is the one who will do the drawing. I deal with some Muslims from time to time. Them quoting the Quran and nothing else would make me turn my back on God. When God's Word is spoken, it goes into the dark places and shed it's light. So that where there was darkness, revelation will be there. Is that the reason you are so upset? May God Bless U.

We quote from the Bible because that is what informs our faith. What would you rather us use? Our opinion? It is easy to deconstruct someone's opinion, because opinions are like noses - everyone has one, and they all smell. When you respond to questions, what sources do you use? Will I agree with them? If I do or don't, what is that to you?

As to the Christians in this forum who have agreed with you, I say this: "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart. No creature can hide from him, but all are naked and helpless before the eyes of the one to whom we must give a word of explanation." (Hebrews 4:12-13)

God also says in Isaiah that His Word will not return to Him empty, achieve what He desires, and accomplish the purpose for which He sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)

As to your question about people quoting from the Qur'an; many have done that. I respect them for it, even though I disagree.

I am a Christian. Why do I feel so hated by you? You don't know me. But to answer your question...the reason I personally quote scripture is because no one says it best but God. No, I would not change my religion if you quoted the Quran, but I would respect your views, because I know that if you're quoting, you must feel as strongly about your religion as I do mine.
God bless you.

It's what we believe to be true

Much the same way you tell people of things that you believe.

I will say this.....We believe the Bible to be true....one reason is that Christianity os the ONLY religion that boasts a risen from the dead Savior..........no other religion even makes this claim

The Bible is not just a book, it is the Word of God. Just because you believe something I dont doesnt mean that you are wrong. It just means we believe different things. Peace and love to you.

Just what would work? Or what would you listen to?

Edit: Okay, forget the Bible. But think about this: I'm sure you have unanswered questions about the existence of God, why we're all here, or where did everything come from. I know you do, because we all do. They are inborn questions. Well these are very important questions. You should seek the answers until you are competely satisfied. I believe you will eventually come to the conclusion that God does exist if you honestly seek answers. If I could take you by the hand and lead to to God's doorstep and introduce you to him, I would do that. But it doesn't work that way. You have to seek him and go to him on your own because it can only be your decision. I can only tell you my experience, but my experience isn't your proof. But if you seek him with a genuine heart, you can even tell him you don't know if he's there or not, but if you are genuine, he will reveal himself to you in some way that will convince you.

I QUOTE THE BIBLE BECAUSE IT SAYS YOU CANHAVE WHATEVER YOU WANT. GOD SPOKE THIS WORLD INTO EXISTENCE, JUST BY OPENING HIS MOUTH AND SPEAKING.WHAT PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE IS THAT THE TONGUE IS VERY POWERFUL. NO, AS A BELIEVER I REALLY WON'T WORRY TO MUCH ABOUT IF SOMEONE WANTS TO BELIEVE ME OR NOT. WHAT WE ALL CHOOSE TO DO OR BELIEVE IN IS BY CHOICE.SOME PEOPLE WANT OTHERS TO FEEL SORRY FOR THEM. GOD ALLREADY DIED ON THE CROSS FOR ALL OF ARE SINS.GOD DOESN'T EVEN FORCE US TO BELIEVE IN HIM. HE JUST SITS BACKS AND WAITS ON US.OKAY WE BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE, IT IS YOUR WILL NOT TO BELIEVE.THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANYONE TO GET MAD JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE DOESN"T BELIEVE. NO, I WOULD NOT CHANGE MY RELIGION AT ALL. NO, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT MY GOD IS REAL. WELL NOT ONLY DO I GO BY THE BIBLE, BUT MY LIFE IS LIVING PROVE THAT JESUS IS REAL. SO I AM HAPPY TO BE ALIVE, BECAUSE I SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD, AND THAT IS REAL!!! I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT SATURDAY, IT WAS A HIGH IMPACT CRASH, BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD I AM HERE.SOOOO....I KNOW HE IS REAL I HAVE BEEN THROUGH HELL AND BACK

God promised us that we, as Christians, would be persecuted in His name. I am never shocked at people's reaction to scripture...but I feel a higher calling to witness in His name. God is the only author of change and the Holy Spirit is what changes a person's heart....not the individual....God just works through people in this manner.
