I have a mole on top of my head. it's not a pretty one. right now it's covered by my hair; however, i'm slowly losing it. i want to know if u guys have any advice. i suppose that the easiest way would be to just stop going bald. what's the best way to go about that? and if that's to difficult or expensive, what are ways to remove the mole? btw, learning to love it will not be possible.

thanx so much!

See a doctor but not just any doctor - a dermatologist -- who can assess your mole for excision. There are different techniques and a dermatologist can decide what will be best depending on the type of nevus you have and the size and depth of the nevus (yeah, that's what a mole is). Be smart and do this the right way. On the other hand, if it's a hairy nevus this could work in your favor.

As far as treating hair loss, you can speak to the dermatologist about that as well. Products containing monoxidil may be one recommendation. Some forms of hair loss are more treatable than others.

"kinacl" says somewhat odd things for someone who claims to be a nurse. Not what I would say or how I would say it.

A skin mole & not an animal "mole", right???
Treating hair loss is expensive and time consuming. It doesn't always work. My advice is to have the mole removed. It's easy for a doctor to do. But since you'll want to minimize scarring, I suggest having a dermatologist of plastic surgeon removing it instead of a family practice doctor.
*If it doesn't look canerous to your Dr., they might can use a laser to remove it instead of a blade. I had some freckles "froze" off once and it didn't leave much of a scar. But if it looks cancerous, the Dr. will have to cut off a big part around it to have it bioposied.
Ointments like Mederma are supposedly good at helping to fade scars, too.

Don't forget to wear a hat & sunscreen on your head if you're going bald. You do't want skin cancer. Good luck!

I'm a nurse. It could be a skin tag and can be removed at the clinic. If it is indeed a mole, you need to have it checked out. Moles can become life threatening if it changes color, bleed, or comes off on it's own. I would be concerned since it's bothering you. Ask plenty of questions to make sure you understand what's going on with you. I answered this for you, not the ten points. Take care and don't worry, but have a doctor to look at it for you.

Moles should be removed by a dermatologist, he will then have it tested for cancer. Here in Canada it will cost you anything between 60 and 100$ canadian. A Mole can bleed like hell, so please don't try to do it yourself, also if it is cancerous, you're just releasing an incredible amount into your blood stream. I am not trying to scare you, I have a friend with very, very thin hair, she had about 16 removed, 3 at a time.

Having the mole removed by a doctor is the way to go. I would not recommend going to a doctor willing to do the procedure in his/her office, because it is a surgical procedure. I would suggest looking for a doctor only willing to utilize a surgery center, where the environment is considered sterile. If the mole is in a place where any scaring would be visible(on your face or forehead), I would suggest a cosmetic surgeon.

See a dermatologist. They should check all the moles on your body anyway, just to make sure they are benign (not harmful/in need of being removed).

Insurance normally covers part or all of the cost or if not, you may be able to make payment arrangements with the doctor's office.

Go see a doctor, do not try to remove it yourself, a doctor should look at the mole, it could be a serious medical condition. I hope it is not, anyway, Best of luck!!!

You never remove a mole yourself. it could be cancerous and if it is and you try to remove it yourself the cancer could spread or spread faster if it is already spreading. Absolutley go to the doctor if you want it removed. If you insist on trying to remove it yourself then at least take the remnants to the doctor so they can test it.

Some moles can be cancer so first I would check and make sure its not. Then ask your docter if he can remove it with out messing up your hair. And also you might be able to get that stuff that keeps you from losing hair. ......HOPE I HELPED!!
