so normal. Potty training during the day is more reliable, however as everyone said many things can cause a set back. New sibling, new teacher, upset at preschool, mad at you, too busy playing with holiday gifts, anything! Night time dryness is more of a biological readiness thing and will come in good time. My daughter is 31/2 and is dry most 5 of 7 nights a week, and almost everyday. Days have been mostly dry for many months, but every so often she'll have an off week with more accidents than expected. I don't make a big deal about it, but I do make her help me get everything cleaned up so she knows it is not what we want. Sometime she cleans it up and changes herslef before she even tells me or her teacher!

hang in there, they won't be wetting thier pants or beds by the time they get to college!

Primary enuresis is when the child has never been dry at night or would not sleep dry without being taken to the toilet by another person or has some dry nights but continues to average at least two wet nights a week with no long periods of dryness. Secondary enuresis occurs when a child goes through an extended period of dryness and begins to experience night-time wetting again. Secondary enuresis is often (though by no means always) caused by emotional stress.

Ah yes, the relapses. We are very familiar with them at our house. I was able to get them to stop at night by taking my son out of bed and carrying him to use toilet every night before I went to bed. He goes to bed at 8pm and at 10pm I'd go get him. I carry him from his bed to his bathroom. I put him down in front of the toilet, pull down his pants then he'd pee. Right there in his sleep he peed. I pulled his pants back up and returned him to his bed. He didn't pee the bed, I didn't have to change the sheets and he was over it within a week or so. It was a miracle that it worked but it did. I thought it up myself and it worked great.

The daytime wetting was stopped with the purchase of brand new underwear. I claimed they were hand picked my his Daddy and that they should never be peed in. It worked like a charm. My husband and I made a big deal out of the NEW underpants so that really made an impression.

There are always going to be relapses, which are nothing to worry about. I never got upset, never punished and we have had dry days and nights for months now. They're still so little at 3, there are bound to be accidents. Hang in there mom, in another 15 years they'll be away at college and you'll wish they were 3 years old again.

best of luck, take care.

It's normal if there has been a change in his routine or a major lifestyle change. Moving, starting preschool, even the excitement of the holiday season especially if there's a lot of traveling, can trigger this. Is he drinking too much fluids in the few hours before bed? Watching a lot of scary tv? If everything is normal in his life, then it's time to get checked by a doctor, because bedwetting can be caused by urinary tract infections too.

Has something changed in his life? New school, teachers, etc? Any changes can bring on stress, and stress can make a toddler go backward in potty training. My oldest had this problem when we changed sitters - but she eventually figured it all out.

It could be several things...
Could be that something has changed and this is how hes reacting to it.... life or living situation, molestation.
Could be hes too busy to care.
Could be that he has a silent UTI or bladder and kidney issues.
If he continues to have an issue after a week or two I would ask a nurse or doctor.

It's perfectly normal. Just be persistant and don't get angry with him when he has an accident. A recent change in his life or around him could be the cause of his habit breaking as well.
