I was like 8 years old and my school was on the side of the WTC. i remebered i missed the bus downtown and i got to school around 8:30, i went to class and when we heard a big explosion we thought something happened in the cafe. so we payed no attion. the boom sounded for a second time and we check and the building were burning, we heard everything from screaming to police yelling everything. We were the 2nd to last class to leave to the site. Most of the class knew where to go since we knew downtown so well, my dum teacher told us if we were to be splited to run towards the Brooklyn Bridge. it like 9:40 and we here a big *** rumble the tower was going down and i was on vesey OMG i thought everything in my head.

I just stopped at remeber am uncle was working in WTC #7. I was crossing another street and i was able to run into #7 when i saw that cloud of dust i was like whoa! i was able to find my uncle and i stayed with him thinking it was "safe" i here a rumble and am crying my *** off the other tower was coming down adn i was on the computer. the roof of #7 was destoryed and the building moved. we ran down those stairs crazy. when we got out everything we black and white i heard nutting and i look towards my school, it was destoryed. I began to cry! thinking all my friends didnt made it.

My uncle's car was luckly not crushed cause it was parked on West. it was hards getting over the steel frames from the building. We made it to the bronx in 15 mins from Lower Manhattan. All the highways were closed into manhattan and New Jeresy the were only letting people go to Brklyn, queens, and the bronx

I go to school in washigton Heights now and i will never remeber that day

I wasn't in NYC that day, but I highly recommend the book "Watching the World Change: The Stories Behind the Images of 9/11" by David Friend. Much of it is told through the eyes of the many photographers who captured the events, but there are also many interviews with collapse survivors, people who lived near the Towers, and people who lost loved ones. It is absolutely riveting and without a doubt the best post-9/11 book out there.

I live and was in NJ when it happened. I was able to see the smoke from Teterboro, NJ. It was pure havoc in the area for a long time. Vigils were everywhere. I stood by the highway with other people with a candles. It was a moment in time that I could never forget. Watching people pull together was amazing. Many that have died were from my area, although I didn't know any personally. My heart goes out to all who have suffered. My father helped construct the World Trade Center in the 70s and lived to see it destroyed. It still saddens me to see that building missing from our skyline. A part of us all died that day.

I was in NYC. I was in shock so it's hard to describe how it felt. I felt an adrenaline rush for hours. I was hyper-alert. I started to cry but I couldn't really, it was to shocking to cry. I thought I knew for a fact that we were all going to die that day. I really was waiting for the nuclear bomb to go off any second. I really thought it was all over for me. I kept thinking about how 'this is what I get for living in NYC'. I thought that all we could do was wait to die. I was using a payphone, trying to call my boyfriend while I was staring at the smoke and a guy was standing on the corner, also watching the smoke, and he started HITTING ON ME. He was making kissing and hissing sounds while the smoke was flying everywhere. That was the most surreal experience of my life.
