my reverence and gratitude to Him now comes from love, but a healthy fear of God led me into a more mature relationship with Him. I believe that the Bible says to fear the Lord.............we must understand his sovereignty to live in a state of grace

I don't believe that God would want people to serve him out of fear of hell; God wants people to serve him out of genuine belief and love.

Fear of hell turns us to God. His forgiveness brings us into a love relationship with Him. We cannot love God until we accept His Son as Savior and Lord, then He teaches us how to love Him and others.

You may initially be awakened to your need of salvation when you contemplate hell, but if it is a true conversion it will quickly turn into a relationship of love as you experience the forgiveness and acceptance of Christ. If this is not the case then you are probably sitting under a church with erroneous teachings or are not going on in your walk.

Out of love. I NEVER fear god. I try to most of the time follow my heart when it comes to other peoples feelings and that leads me to making the right descions.

I think a whole lot of people accept Jesus for their "Get out of Hell free card." Heck, I did, but when the Holy Spirit showed up that changed, and I fell in love with Him.
