ok, so the shoots are made out of nomex (a fire proof material used in forces flight suits) the membranes are made out of an inteligent material that reshapes after each person like an one oway valve, the shoot is angled away from the building at an angle which suits the surrounding building, surely even the most sceptic must think there is an idea there somehow, somehere

It is 2.47am !
A vertical slide (like at a water -park) with spring loaded one way doors (valves). You go through the "valve" and then drop 10 feet to the next, the next one cannot open until you are through that one, etx, etc. One slide on each corner of a building. You work out the costs and get back to me.
However, 999,999 times out of a million, people just use the existing stairs, its a lot safer !
2.52am - answering that question was like counting sheep.
Nite nite from the UK.
I asume you are not up at 3am here ?

Again? I missed your other questions, I guess.

But it sounds like you're not getting a lot of support for your idea. From this question alone, I suspect there is certainly ways to devise such a shoot as you describe. I don't see any insurmountable engineering concerns with such an idea.

However, with the thousands of high rise buildings in this country - and the minuscule occurrence of accidents or fires that would necessitate a shoot (have you researched the need?) - I suspect one would be much more likely to get run over or struck by lightening than would need a shoot. And then there's the other concerns - for instance, one would necessarily have to get access to the shoot - roof? - and wait his or her turn to enter it - not likely in a crowd panic situation.

There are several types of escape chutes/slides for buildings already on the go. in fact there is new regulations for future constructions of tall buildings to incorperate the latest technology in escape exits such as chutes.
the best ideas are to keep them simple and not depending on electricity or a degree in science in the operation of using them.
the technology is there but like all things about safety that cost money more accidents are needed before its enforce...kinda like shutting the barn doors after the horse is gone.

These things have been proposed since the first tall building was erected. No one has ever been able to get them to work. Do some research.
BTW, 'shoot' is a verb. 'Chute' is an inclined channel.
