I use a softbox for my lighting and it works great. There will be some heat generated, but not enough to cause a fire, or anything like that. Just be sure to place them a little closer than usually to your subject and they should work fine.

hi, I have very powerful film lights that we use on Our shoots, I , although it is not pretty put up projector screens, and face the lights at them. Works very well, no loss of light.
