Chuck is far superior to Tito, but he's not the best in the world. Fedor Emileninko is the best, bar none. No one else is even close. It's hard to compare fighters of different weights, but in JUST heavy and light heavy (so anyone above 205 lbs) here's the ranks:

1) Fedor
2) Mirko Cro-Cop
3) Wanderlei Silva
4) Chuck Lidell
5) Tim Silvia

I think Chuck would KO Rampage Jackson at this point, but he does need to avenge that loss. Fedor, Cro Cop, and Silva would all smash Lidell right now.

Chuck is far better than Tito Ortiz. He has dominated Tito twice now, and there won't be another rematch in the near future. As for all of the speculation about who is the best, I'd like to contribute...
Fedor Emelianenko is the best fighter in the world - hands down. Chuck is the best fighter in the UFC (except maybe CroCop), but Mauricio Shogun Rua is better conditioned, younger and a superior ground fighter to the Iceman. I truly believe that Chuck would wax Wenderlei Silva, Ricardo Arona and Rogiero Nogiera were they to fight and will wax Rampage when they go at it again. However, it is rumored that CroCop will try and get down to light heavyweight to challenge Liddell, which would answer the question of who is best in the UFC.

Since Chuck just beat Tito in the last UFC title match, I'd say that Chuck is the best fighter. I really feel badly for Tito, though because he wanted the belt back and had trained so hard. It just doesn't look as if he can beat Chuck right now. He has to know how Ken Shamrock felt when he kept losing to Tito.

Chuck 2 Tito 0...........I have to disagree with the guy above. Chuck is 7-0 since the loss to Rampage, while Jackson is 6-3. Liddell has taken his game to another level, Rampage is going to get ktfo in the rematch.

I think if Shogun were to venture over to UFC it would be years until we saw the belt in the hands of an american again. Chuck is decent but he only has U.S. quality skills, and at this point in Mixed Martial Arts, the U.S. just can't compete with the rest of the world. Dan Henderson and Josh Barnett are obvious exceptions but even they don't have the kind of records that Fedor and Silva and Crocop and Gomi have.

well obiously chuck he beat tito twice.
but i would not say he is the best in world because he still has that one lose he has yet to avenge... rampage jackson.
see chuck got sent to fight in pride representing ufc and he did good for a while but then he got got by rampage.
see rampage has the formula for what it takes to beat chuck and it is the easyest formula too. you have to be able to take him to the ground but the trick is you must have a good chin because you'll take a couple of chucks bombs first. then take him down and ground and pound him like he did before. he'll do it again. in do time my friend. chuck is finished.

it rather is gotta be Chuck. i spotted they have been attempting to construct up Ortiz for the subsequent card by potential of asserting he's won his final 5 suits in a row. yet think of roughly it. 3 of those have been to Ken Shamrock! i think of Chuck will positioned ol' Tito away returned in December.

i like them both, they are both great fighters, but i would have to put chuck lidell as best ufc fighter for his class, you really cant say best ufc fighter ever because of all the classes.

Wanderlei Silva or Shogun and even Antonio Rogerio "Minotoro" Nogueira are all better than Liddell and Tito Ortiz!
