There are only two Muslim sects; Sunni and Shia. There is no difference in the creeds of the two. The difference is in the concept of leadership (Sunni believe that any capable Muslim can be the leader if so elected; Shia believe that leadership has to be in the progenies of Muhammad). The bitterness is manly the result of history then religious differences).
Others may claim to be Muslims but these two mainstream sects do not recognize them as Muslims since they disregard some key point(s) of Islamic beliefs.
Your other question shows deep ignorance. Who make Saddam attack Iran; who caused very deliberate political tension between Sunnis and Shias in Iraq. Have you ever read the history of religion in Europe (Even if you ignore all the wars in Europe of the last two Centuries).

Muhammad never trained anyone to take his place when he died because muhammad knew better than to trust any of his followers. Like a modern gang leader, muhammad knew if he trained a new leader, the person he trained might kill him and take over. When muhammad died, his followers formed 2 main groups, sunnis and shiites, who started fighting to take over the islamic criminal enterprize that had become so profitable by then due to muhammad's sucessful plundering of the surrounding land. Muslim factions have been fighting each other since then, and now the plunder is no longer the merchandise of the mostly Jewish merchants that muhammad robbed to found his empire, it is the money they get from the oil that fuels the world economy and that their area is so rich in that they fight over.
And through the spread of islam around the world, they are carrying their violent ways with them and thus we see the wave of terrorism that is engulfing the world.
It is about the greed of islam as founded by muhammad that led to all the fighting we see among muslims. Sunnis and shiites want it all, and will kill each other for it...

It appears to some deu to the depiction of media..
Mirzai or ahmedi are officially declared non-muslims in Pakistan..

Muslims are united like anything, not like protesteants and catholics who have different bibles even(protesteants have 7 books or something less ),how many sects chrsitanity has by the way?Mormons?Amish?jahova's witnesses, anglican church, greek orthodox roman cathoic russian baptist..
Even their bibles are different
Different version,means source differs..

Sects are haraam(not allowed in Islam)
Forbidden in Quran and Hadith

[6:159] Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with
you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform
them of everything they had done.

[30:32] (Do not fall in idol worship,) like those who divide
their religion into sects; each party rejoicing with what they have.

[42:14] Ironically, they broke up into sects only after the
knowledge had come to them, due to jealousy and
resentment among themselves. If it were not for a
predetermined decision from your Lord to respite them for
a definite interim, they would have been judged
immediately. Indeed, the later generations who inherited
the scripture are full of doubts.

The last sermon of the prophet witnessed by the thousands has three versions. The versions the references are listed below.

1) I leave with you Quran and Sunnah.
Muwatta, 46/3

2) I leave with you Quran and Ahl al-bayt.
Muslim 44/4, Nu2408; ibn hanbal 4/366; darimi 23/1, nu 3319.

3) I leave you for the Quran alone you shall uphold it.
Muslim 15/19, nu 1218; ibn Majah 25/84, Abu dawud 11/56.

Because the majority of the Muslims follow conjecture (hadith and sunnah) instead of Quran alone (17:46) as our Creator has commanded the "Muslims" are divided into sects. These sects are there because of differences and disagreements on Hadith rather than disagreements over the Quran.

ahmedi and bahai are not sects of Islam. In Islam there are 2 sects: Shiah and Sunni (which surprisingly claims 90& of Muslims). Within these 2 sects are varying opinions and even Sufism (mysticism...very loving and peaceful). Compared to Christianity though there is alot less division :)

The Sunnias and Shia's are basically Poilitically. Who will rule the Muslims is a poiltical nad not religious call. Clans are cultural.
Mnay people make their own "Islam" to exaclt their interpretations.
Whic is stupid because one seeking Islam shoul change the name. But its the same reason why their are Christians sects.
the Quran advised us that were were not supposed to break up into sects, but thats humans for you. So I am informed of those human innovations and what they believe (those sects), but I obey God by just calling myself Muslim and my religion Islam.
There are a vast number of Muslims who do this.

That what you think there is no sects or clans in Islam one book " Quran" for every one and the rest is politics not religion disputes.

Because they're large enough and they've been around long enough to have valid differences of opinions, just like the Buddhists, Hindus, Jews and Christians, who ALSO have many sects, faiths, clans and creeds.

DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
