Also, i live in an area where ther is alot of snow in the winter, but there are nice summers. And if you choose suv, which one is better, 4-wheel, or all-wheel. If you know of any good cars that are good and stylish, but are a good cheap car, can you add that?

Go with the SUV. You'll be happier with the vehicle for a longer amount of time. It will be more versatile and can haul more stuff and friends around.

As for 4X4 or AWD, if you're up north, go with the 4X4. You can shift into 4high or 4low, so you'll have more control over the conditions. For example, if you slid off into a ditch, you'd have a better shot at putting a 4X4 into 4low and trying to get out, than you would relying on the factory settings of an AWD suv.

If you're in the central belt of the nation where snowy and icy weather doesn't happen often, the AWD is more advantageous, since most AWD systems operate better in rain than true ice and snow.

A front wheel drive car with snow tires is about as good in serious snow as 4-wheel drive/all-wheel-drive . . . and more stable and better handling in virtually every situation. And a proper one will get 1 1/2 to twice the fuel mileage of a comparable SUV. Except for a few extreme cases, where their job regularly requires them to drive where there are no roads, only morons think they need an SUV.

For the winter nothing touches an SUV with 4wd however 4wd is rough and designed for serious offroad. for good on road performance and manners get an AWD SUV no car even FWD can compare, i live in michigan and know exactly what you mean rough winters (except this one?) and nice 95 degree summers. get a sunroof on your SUV for the summers ;)
