I've been suffering from depression and anxiety/panic disorder for over 8 years now. Some days are better than others. Try asking yourself as it starts to hit you/whatever the issue is, "How important is it?" How important is it today? How important will it be next week? How important will it be next month? How important will it be six months from now. If you can walk away from the issue for some time and try to compose yourself or lie down or anything. They say if we do not dwell so much on what's wrong and dwell on what's going right that will help us. The idea is to try to take back control of how you react/ your reaction/response to any given situation. I'm not sure it goes away; but I think I have become better at stepping back and forcing myself to ask the above questions to gain perspective and THEN react and respond as best as I can. It is a learned behavior...it takes time and practice. I wish you peace and every best wish in the world.!

Yes-- yes you definitely can overcome anxiety. I am here to tell you that when I reached a certain age in my former profession I had a little spinny, ticky feeling in my chest several times a day-- it was extreme anxiety. How did I find out? Because after I learned to practice something called Emotional Freedom Techniques that little ticky, spinny feeling was gone! I also used to be a mess around 'performance anxiety' and even traveling by plane. EFT helped me to overcome that. EFT is an energy therapy that is easy to learn and easy to apply. You can learn about some of the success stories from people who had extreme anxieties before using EFT by going here: http://tinyurl.com/wr23k

Unfortunately anxiety is part of our biological make-up and personality. You will most probably encounter bouts of anxiety to different degrees in severity throughout your life.

The good news is, (& speaking from first hand experience) by looking after your self and regular talks with either a health professional or someone senior that you trust anxiety is entirely managable. My anxiety once got soo bad I was diagnosed with agraphobia - but through education and learning about the nature of anxiety, symptoms, triggers, and practical measures to overcome it - I have been able to live a normal life and still hold a professional job.

The key is looking after yourself, your thoughts and focus will shift from your negative worries and thoughts to feeling good and confident!

Best Wishes

I've had anxiety off and on for a number of years. Some times it is short lived, other times it was constant. I finally got help for it in 2005. I learned how to manage the anxiety and to realize that some of the things I was anxious about were things that were completely beyond my control. It's taken awhile (and I still struggle on occasion) but I've learned not to be anxious about things I have no control over. There is also medication, ativan is one, that also helps if it is really overwhelming.

I also have had anxiety all of my life. Even after exercising, meditation, and other things I have done, including medication, I have never completely lost my feeling of anxiety. My medicine controls it to a point, but I do not think I will ever get over anxiety.

I wish!!!!! Im not an expert, im only 16. But i think you can have it go away if it it is only selective towards something you can grow out of it. But overall anxiety, not really. Most people who have general anxiety think its gone when they just have supressed it. I think you need to find a way with breathing or meds or changing things that you worry about to find how it can impact you the least.
Good luck I hope it all works out for you.

Angel , I here what you are feeling you need to control your anxiety on a daily basis.....If you are on meds tell your doctor what your feeling and maybe he can lower your dose of meds ,but this is to be done only by your doctors supervision .and yes stop wondering someday it will leave you but you and only you can control it....when you feel that anxiety coming on try to take a deep breath and hold count to ten and release slowly do this several times and each time say to yourself I am calm ,but you need to keep this as a daily routine....also try and listen to CD's that are just ocean waves do this routine for 20min twice a day and do the breathing routine while listening....you know life is tough but we are tougher I hope I have given you Hope be well my friend ...luv kara

Unfortuately chronic anxiety is usually a bio-chemical condition that you are plauged with for life. It is like any other disease such as heart disease or diabetis. You may never get over it, but you can, however, treat it. You can control it with medication and psycotherapy. You will eventually learn to live a normal, productive life with it. Just like millions of other people with diseases learn to live with thiers. And as the years go by, there will be so many more options for you such as better medications and better therapies. You will be okay!

i have it pretty BAD.. but i believe that you can.. It will take time and a lot of effort but i do believe it.

Like someone said -i think it will always be there at the back of your mind. but i think that if you work at it, then you could absolutely live life 99% free of it.

I would see a doctor and maybe get counsilling (sp)..
I personally wouldnt use medication as it wil only mask the symptoms.. not cure it
