My cat is always meowing so loudly. Not all day, but usually in the morning or night. She meaows for no apparent reason. I check everything, like her food and litter box. It's not really something new, just something she always did. Is this unusual?

No, this is not unusual. She's got personality! She's just talking to you and apparently has a lot to say. She's apparently a very healthy and happy kitty. When they are quiet...it's time to wonder whats wrong!

Some cats don't meow, he might grow out of it. I have a cat that didn't meow for almost the first year of his life, then he started meowing so loud that at times its really annoying. I guess he finally discovered he had a voice and then wanted to make up for it!!

Again, you need to provide more information. How old is your cat, is she in heat or has she been spayed? Have you changed her food lately, or the type of litter she is used to? If she is not in heat (and you'll be able to tell the difference between a normal meow and an in-heat meow, believe me!!!) and if she has had her shots, I wouldn't worry too much. My meow a lot and they are perfectly healthy.

Some cats are more vocal than others. She's probably just happy to see you, and she's telling you about her day (or night). Talk back to her and give her some loving.

It may be that she's asking for canned food. My cats talk to me in the morning - I think they are reminding me that I haven't given them their canned food yet. They try it again at night, but since they only get canned food once a day, it only gets them a couple of kitty treats. (No, my cats aren't spoiled...really!)

Well you are her "mommy", what kind of cry is it? I have a Siamese and he has not shut up since the day I brought him home. He doesn't cry like he's in pain, but he will do it for attention. They are just talking to you, probably when you talk to them, she is responding to your voice. If it's a shrill, hurt meow, you will know the difference. But they are home all day and when we come home from work they want mommy time, lol. They are furry babies. Play with her more, see if that helps, it should.

Both of my cats are very vocal, but they are Siamese. Some cat breeds have a tendency to "talk" more than others. And sometimes cats just like to hear themselves meow. Who knows?

it depends on if it's a male or a female- a male will howl constantly if there is a female in heat. or if it's a female - they howl trying to find a mate if she's in heat. if neither is the case then your cat has a problem - either it's in pain or want's something like attention or food or water!

My new rescue cat is very vocal that way. He always meows when he starts feeling hungry and if he is outside and wants to come back in.

My other cats don't ever do that.

wow...I thought my cat was the only one..Ive never had a cat that meows so much (and shes spayed..), and all is well around the house, she just likes to walk around and talk to me, especially when I get home from work..I asked the vet and they said its completely normal, that it is her way of communicating with me since I talk to her too=) cats are amazing creatures and they have great ways of showing us how they feel (i.e. kneeding, cuddling, purring, placing little fake mice next to me while Im sleeping to say "thanks" in her own way, etc etc...) Id say just try and figure out a way to deal with the loudness and try to appreciate it somehow...

Is she in heat? Has she been neutered? She probably wants to go outside and mate. You need to get her neutered.
