The new testament is a fulfillment of the old.
How can anyone who claim to be a christian pay scant regard to the old testament???
Remember, Jesus said "I can to fulfill the law".

There are several Religious sects that attempt to follow Both Testaments. This is not really possible. The jews still believe that the Messiah has not come and continue to follow the Old Testament (Primarily the first five books). Have a great week!

The concepts in the New Testament were not derived out of thin air. Amos 3:7 says, "Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets." What is mentioned in the New Testament is revealed in the Old Testament either clearly or in types and figures. Gen. 22 is a great example of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Son in Typology represented by the sacrifice of Isaac.

As Christians we are Judeo-Christians. We are to follow Jesus' footsteps. What "Bible" did he read? Well it was the Old Testament.
There is a belief that says the Old Testament is no logner. But 1 Tim. 3:16 (or is it 2 Tim) says that ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD BREATED AND USEFUL! So you can follow the OT. Remember though many of the commandments and sacrifical worship was altered when Jesus died on the Cross. See Hebrews for best explanation for that.

This belief is called dispensationalist.

I personally believe that we are to follow the New Testament as a way of living because it tells of Jesus' teachings, but we should learn from the Old Testament through the stories and examples of how God spoke to people before Jesus came.

When reading the old Testament you will see that God uses His word to confirm the word of the New Testament. The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom, the book of Genesis gives us the history and foundation of our beginnings and the reason for our sinful nature. 1 John says that Jesus is the Word. He is also the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. God's word is true from beginning to the end, and all of it is useful to us even today.

The Jews follow the Torah (Old testament) While the Christians believe that Jesus came to abolish the old law (Torah), thus the Injeel (New testament was) given. Although Christians follow Injeel they revere the Torah because it came from the same God

If you can follow the Law then that would be awesome. There are many Jews who have accepted Jesus and have become complete. A lot of these still keep the law. So the answer is to seek GOD's will for your life and go that way. It may include some or none of the old law depending on your ministry. The law is mostly to teach us what GOD's standard is. I can not possibly be holy enough to please GOD. But I can understand how holy Jesus is and what he did for me on the cross.

The OLd Testament & New Teatament go hand in hand. The first 11chapters of Genesis is the foundation of the whole Bible & Christian faith, In the OLd Testement there are prophecy's that still have to be fulfilled. God has given us both books so we can learn & know Him, so who are we to say that we don't need one or the other !! If someone says that we don't need the Old Testement they are in great error & i would be very careful of them even if it was a pastor !!
