Women start their period at different times, just like us guys get facial hair. You could start at 10 years old, even less in some situations. I not sure of an Average for this, maybe 13-14. Girls may be better knowing. If, your Cousins are older than you, they should have some knowledge of your Genetic ties.
Do not worry what they may know, they need to grow up. This a Natural part of being a Young Woman, and you should not be embarrassed. But, it does show you may be able to get Pregnant, which, I hope you know.

A woman's period is HER business and no one else's. You don't have to tell anyone about it. They don't care, and you shouldn't offer that information.

As for a good age to start, well it's different for every female. The "normal" age is anywhere from 8 - 17.

Again, a woman's menstrual cycle is personal, not to be shared with brothers or cousins.
