One would ahve thought that the evidence for global warming was overwhelming. However, there are some people who still deny it.
3 main reasons:-
1) Vested interested - leads to blinkered view of statistics.
For some people, global warming is very bad for their business / or the health of their countries economy. Because of this they cling to any argument against it. They only listen to what they want to hear and switch off to what they dont want to hear. If you are the head of a government and want to get elected, you may end up having blinkered vision ... or maybe you are...
2) Vested interest - corruption. Some people know it exists but rather than being blinkered -they just prefer to lie. A bit like the tobacco industry denying that cigarettes were harmful to ones health when there was so much overwhelming evidence...
3) Conspiracy theorists. Some people just like to pretend that everything is a conspiracy... and that global wamring doesn't exists, its just a way for govenrments to get more taxes etc.
People beleive what the media tells them. However, as the facts become more compelling, they start to listen more...
Albeit probably too late....

After the Winter of 1998-99(when it was cold enough to extend my school's christmas vacation by around a week and a half) and the storm that hit just before Christmas of 2004(when that Arctic Ice Blast came in from the south) resulting in snow in Hawaii(at least a crown on the mountain top, but it was still snow) and the power getting knocked out for days where I was from I have a lot of trouble believing it.
Especially when the some of the same people who have called for reduction of greenhouse gases would rather throw rocks at police than spend that money researching more efficient ways of using Solar, Wind and Geothermal energies(which I am for. oil won't last forever and gasoline is not it's only byproduct).
Not to mention the Average Temperature in the US back in the 1940's was in the 90's; and a Magazine Article(either from Newsweek for Time) saying we were going into Global Cooling... there is too much contradictory information going on for my liking.

Top Ten Policies Necessary to Ensure a Global Apocalypse Following are the most urgent policy prescriptions necessary to maximize the likelihood of a collapsed global ecosystem. They are listed in order of importance. To have any chance of hastening the end we really must get at it. No. 1 - POPULATION - Human population is not relevant to our current situation. We can make as many people as we wish and there will be no consequence. Human ingenuity can solve any conceivable problem. When we run out of room here we can colonize the Moon, then Mars, then the whole Universe! No. 2 - GREENHOUSE GASES – Global Warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated. The Environmentalist / Socialist / Secular Humanist Axis of Evil must be destroyed at all cost. No. 3 - PROTECT ECOSYSTEMS? –Nature will regenerate itself endlessly no matter what we do. A lot of the stuff we do is better than nature anyway. No. 4 - CONSUMPTION – We have a God given economic right to consume what we want. Period. I worked hard for my money and I’ll spend it as I please. No. 5 - AGRICULTURE - God gave us dominion over the earth. It is ours to use as we see fit. We can tinker with the genes of our food, and heck with everything else for that matter. When all that is left is green slime, so long as it's nutritious and tastes good, who cares! No. 6 - ECONOMIES - Markets are the purest form of Natural Law. Let the cream rise to the top and let the rest eat cake. No. 7 - TECHNOLOGY - Technology is the Holy Grail. By God, what Man would ever want to stick his hand down into the dirty Earth, the smelly slimy Sea. The end state of humanity should be to live in a hermetically sealed bubble with all his wants and needs artificially provided. No. 8 - ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION? – We already give up too much to the crazed hippy environmentalists. We have a God Given Right to take the last 2% of world that hasn't been spoiled and make some more money off it. When Antarctica unfreezes, I want first dibs there too. No. 9 - POVERTY- Poor people are lazy and deserve their lot. No. 10 – DEMILITARIZATION? - If I can’t defraud you out of what you have, I’ll make laws that make cheating you out of it legal. And when that fails I’ll just kill you and take it.

Yeah, because some people study it their entire lives, and really actually study it instead of just listening to the media and Greenpeace, and they still don't believe that humans are necessarily responsible. The data is incredibly limited, the results are contradictory, and the bottom line is that you can't legislate economics. As much as everyone wants to think that oil is horrible for all of us, the reality is oil is why we have an economy at all. Without oil we wouldn't have food in our grocery stores. Without coal we wouldn't have electricity to power our homes. Without oil we wouldn't have plastics, gasoline, airplanes, or any of the macinery used for all of the renewable energy resources including wind mills, solar panels and even biofuels grown with the help of gasoline powered tractors and oil based fertilizers. Sure, temperature might be rising on our planet, but no one can PROVE that this is not a natural process and no one was measuring temperatures 200 years ago and keeping them on record, and just in case people are still worried about the Ice Age being over- remember we couldn't live in conditions like that anyway!

There are people here who believe the WTC buildings were destroyed by the US government, that man has never walked on the moon, that Saddam is still alive, that John Kerry was a viable presidential candidate and on and on and on.
It should not surprise you that there are people who believe that we can spew millions of tons of CO and CO2 into our atmosphere every year and not have any effect on our environment.

I just can't believe that these people don't realise that they are the reason why government policy isn't being changed. Public opinion is the only thing that can make a change, and for someone to say they don't believe in it just so they don't have to change their lives, is the reason nothing is getting done.
People's views count more than their actions.

Remember, we live in a world where people once believed the Earth was flat, that it was the center of the universe. We now hold Galileo in high esteem but he was persecuted for what he saw and believed.

Stupid *** corrupted business men and politicians should just grow up and accept the facts that the environment is trilliions of times more important than their riches.

Too many people are blinded by politics. They don't like the messenger(s) so they ignore the message. Reminds me a lot of Noah's day.
