Does anyone out there have any thoughts or insight into the book of Revelations?

Question

I think I know what the woman, the dragon, the beast and the harlot are. But I think there are many depths to this amazing book, and that they are like pieces of a puzzle. I think there is a political view and then deeper levels of interpretation, more spiritual ones. I"d like to hear anyone elses views on Revelations and please don't cut and paste a web site's view or your churches or someone elses teachings on the subject. I want personal views. Thanks.

Excuse me, I say this politely, why are some of you telling me to get right with God? Just for the record, I'm saved and have been walking with my Lord Jesus for 31 years. Do you have any thoughts on Revelations, that is the question?

I will try to cover just one point right now.

Babylon the Great is the world empire of false religion.This is because all many of the man made doctrine in the churches go back to ancient Babylon.Such as the trinity,immortality of the soul,christmas and Easter celebrations.worshiping idols etc.
It says in Rev it will be destroyed by the beast which is a political entity now very soon.At one time she{religion} and the beast{political element} committed fornication together. They used to get along very well. But God has put into politics to turn on religion very soon and destroy her. I know it sounds hard to believe but take a look at what is going on in the wold today. By the way,the Beast is the UN!

I think it's there for us to read (as we receive a blessing each time we do), but it's not for us to understand right now. But I agree with everything Patrone07 writes. Be careful not to read too much into it or get in too deep. People have gone crazy doing that. Remember Waco? That dude tried to decipher Revelation and decided that he was the Lamb worthy enough to open the scroll (which, of course, is Jesus). For me, it's a great book to read and try to imagine standing before God in all His glory and the unfathomable beauty of heaven. And reading what is written to the churches inspires me to be a better Christian.

The Book of Revelation was written to bring comfort and courage to the Christians during the fierce persecution of Nero, the Roman emporer in 90 AD. It was written in code otherwise the Church would have been persecuted still much more!

Why bother about the book of Revelations? ARE you spiritually ready to face judgement?

Why think about the end point if you will not be saved? Better to spend time on preparing yourself in the truth then to anticipate the endpoint where you will be burnt for eternity.

I believe it was truly a vision that John had, one in which he saw the future, (not too far off from us). I think many of the things he describes are his best efforts at describing modern day technology, such as helicopters, tanks, and other such weapons of war. So I guess it is literal, but requires a certain degree of interpreting. This is my opinion, but all I know is I wont be here for most of it, thank God!

I have studied revalations over and over. I still dont get it, its a book that makes it self more known as history folds out. Gods way of showing his glory in letting us know he know the end from the begining. If you like I have a revalation audio study I could mail you. I think it was written for that time period as a source of hope for Christians. Then the Church took it litterally. It really does apply mainly to ancient Rome in the time of Nero. Nero was, in fact, portrayed as the Antichrist.
