it does make me mad but i never change the lane no matter how close that person tailgates me. thereafter if i get rear ended by him/her that fvcker will be at fault right? and i also tap on my brake often when i see a jerk tailgating me. the bottom line is why do people have to tailgate why cant they move to other lane if they are in rush to get to thier destination. sometime i feel like getting off the car and beat the heck out of them. thats just me. and i also hate those who dont use thier blinkers while turning. comeon guys be generous.

The first answerer sounds clinically insane! Tailgaters have absolutely no respect for the lives and property of others. I have had people tailgate me in fog. When I let them pass, they slowed down real fast because they realized they had been driving on my lights. Now I could relax, because I stayed close and drove on their lights. I have been tailgated in driving rain by people that thought they should be able to go faster, despite the danger of hydroplaning coupled with no visibility.

Don't tap on the brake. If the driver overreacts and has an accident, you would feel bad and you might be liable. I did this once to a tailgater. A friend was in the car behind that one and when the tailgater overreacted she almost took out my friend!
By not yielding you're being a jerk too, just in a different fashion. I do have a few tactics which make people change lanes, though. I'll gradually slow down a bit, then a bit more, and the person usually changes lanes. That or I'll smile and look in the rear view mirror and introduce myself and start a conversation. They usually think I'm nuts and change lanes to get away.
I'd rather have a little fun with the idiots than let my blood pressure rise or stoop to violence.
I drive like I want others to drive. I can't control the other drivers.

Yes but I don't get road rage. But I think these tailgaters are terrible drivers. I laugh when I see them change lanes and only get one car ahead. What is the purpose of that? How crazy is that I think. I use to drive long distance to and from work and always had the tailgaters and seen the tailgators. What is their hurry? Why can't they just drive like normal human beings? Yes they irritate me!!

I think its unecessary to tail gate too and I often do the brake tap thing to the people tailgating me as well..... HOWEVER, if you are one of those ppl who thinks its okay to do 50 in the left lane then ppl have every right to tailgate you. If you wanna go slow get in the right lane..... going slow as **** in the left lane is just plain inconsiderate to me and if you get tailgated for doing this then you deserved it.....

There is no excuse for tailgating, if you're that close you can't see what is in front of the car you're tailgating. Which causes a dangerous situation.

tailgating makes u a potential killer....especially if their on a motorcycle. we bikers can stop in half the distance of any cager. if u are tailgating us, u'll wind up killing us if we go down.
if i'm in the van, i'll slow down and let them pass, but i dont take my time doin a pass on an interstate either.
on the bike, i have a few countermeasures: a handful of marbles, or a handful of lugnuts dropped off the bike creates hell on their windsheild. be advised that some bikers will resort to opening fire on the offending car driver, especially if the rider is a 1%'er.

I hate it even as someone does that to me and that i by no ability rigidity like that. it really is a detrimental ingredient to do. If, for some reason, the guy in the front has to brake rapidly then you definitely might want to be accurate into the lower back of them and the police might want to charge you because it would want to be your fault for utilising too close. you're meant to leave a automobile-length between you and the vehicle in the front.

YES! It used to make me really mad. I got rid of most of my road rage. If they hit you, it's totally their fault. Most tailgaters are talking on their cellphone too.
I usually go REALLY slow (since speeding up just makes them speed up too), and take my time. HA! That shows them, because then they're really not going to get there any faster. Plus, there is less possibility of YOU getting into a wreck because you are going slower. And, if there is one, it's their fault!

I used to get mad but not any more. If someone in front of me is going slow I go around. If someone behind me is on my tail then I must be going to slow for them and I let them around. I just want to get to where I am going.
