Does anyone know of a Website or some resource that allows you to look up when a company's patent on a drug expires, allowing generic versions to be created and sold? For example, a company patents a drug for a certain period of time and no other companies are allowed to sell generic versions until after a certain number of years.

The following applies to the U.S.A.
You can check with the US Patent Office

Even if the patent expires, that doesn't mean that the generic will come out right away. The innovator company will go to court to try and uphold their patent. This process continues until they lose the case or settle with a generic company (the latter being much more common). This is why it is almost impossible to determine the exact date a generic will be available.

Generic forms of drugs start to appear on the market after the initial patent runs out. Usually in 10-20 years. That is why drug makers are always altering (or trying to) the formula of their drugs slightly so they can get a new patent.
