The actual reckoning of when Easter is to be celebrated looks to events celebrated by Pagans. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon occuring after the Spring Equinox.
And whoever said Christmas and Easter are based on Pagan observances is correct.

Ted, you are correct, but Why do we celebrate Christmas on the 25th, because back in the 6th century a heard that it was changed, but does it really matter when we celebrate Easter, I think not as long as it was close, that more that I can say about X-Mas which really christ was born in early fall. However we care not about that, NOT, retailers don't care, it's all about the money.

Easter is with regard to the resurrection of Christ. maximum meant "trip journeys" that have a non secular history have been commercialized by applying the media. to boot, for the time of Christmas, human beings supply supplies as custom to propose God's present of Jesus in the direction of guy. those "specific days" reason a lot of human beings to have a warped view approximately how specific festive seasons are meant to be celebrated with alcohol and wild partying. i'm no longer a prude yet i'm in basic terms asserting like what i think of that's.

Easter's even the wrong date. Did Jesus DIE sometime between March and April?
The crusifiction and ressurection occured on a fixed day and the day of the week varies each year. The ressurection is only on Sunday once every 30 or so years.

Your holiday Easter was actually based on the feast day for the Norse goddess Oshun. Her holiday represented fertility, life, birth, and rebirth. Rabbits were sacred to her, and her followers left her offerings of painted eggs on their altars. Oshun's feast day was the first Sunday after the first full moon of the first day of Spring. If the first day of Spring landed on a full moon, Oshun's holiday wasn't until the the Sunday after the next full moon. This method is still used to determine on what day Easter falls. Easter is a commandeered Pagan holiday.

Actually, the dates for the two were chosen during the council of nicea as ways to coincide with the two major pagan holidays celebrated at those times of the year. The equinox in the spring and the winter solstice are major holidays in the various pagan religions.
If you google or yahoo "christian and pagan similiarities, you will find all sorts of reliable sources on this information.
Yet another reason I choose not to believe in either. Of course, I buy gifts for my kids at christmas, but the holiday itself has no meaning to me.
