1st- go to the doctor and find out why the foot is swelling. Once you know the cause of the swelling, treat the problem by doing what ever your physician tells you to do. After that, treat the swelling with ice.

Stay off of it for a while and make sure you eat some salty foods, your swelling may be caused by too much water in your feet. If the swelling continues 3 days after it started and/or beings to hurt after no stimuli was forced onto it get it checked out by a doctor quick.

Otherwise try shoe inserts if you need to be on your feet, also try not to be on your feet whenever you can. Take rests if your feet start to hurt or feel tight or cramped up.

Elevate it slightly. Put a warm moist washcloth over it along with a heating pad. The moist heat helps to remove the swelling. Also try Aleve, it is for swelling.

Be careful. This could be pointing toward diabeties. Foot problems are a very common warning sign for diabeties.

you really need to know what is the cause of the swelling before an appropriate answer can be given. One would need more information to give any sort of advice. Such as is it bilateral, was there any trauma involved, are you on any medication, where is the swelling in the foot, is there also tenderness etc etc

depends on the reason for the swelling...elevate it...apply ice if it's an injury. Or elevate it and be careful about salt intake if it's just swelling for no apparent reason
