The best dogs out there are found in the shelter and not only that, usually they will pick you instead of the other way around.

Well do you mean small or able to live in an apartment like setting? For instance a dogs like terriers are small don't do well in apartments because they are hyper but dogs like Great Danes do great in apartments because they are lazy as ****. Now if you want a small dog because you think they are cute you must find out about the personalities. If you go to a shelter you can find great cute dogs and you can even spend some time with them to see which one you get along with. Hope this helps.

Go to YAHOO! and type in "dog breed selector" Several questionnaires will come up. They will ask you about your lifestyle and preferences. This should give you a good idea about the breed good for you. Once you get it narrowed down, go to akc.com and look at the breed standard. then you may want to volunteer at a shelter or rescue so you can meet the dogs in person and see if you connect. Another resource might be to go to a dog show. Whatever you do, don't go to a pet shop or a backyard breeder. Happy Hunting!!!!

We need more information than just 'small' and 'dog'. Here are some good questionnaires for you to fill in. They will match your life style and what you're looking for in a dog, with some breeds that match you.

All dogs are good dogs. Suggest you adopt one from a shelter. Get some feedback from those who had adopted.
