Well first of all, it depends on what you're eating. Second, if 3.5 miles an hour raises your heartrate, then it is a good pace for you. But most people try to walk a mile in 15 minutes or less, which is 4 mph, or a little faster.

RE: Will strolling on a treadmill for 40 minutes an afternoon help me shed pounds? I'm a 24 three hundred and sixty 5 days previous woman, and that i'm truly no longer overweight in any respect, yet i favor to lose about 10 pounds, and basically tone up somewhat. I honestly were cutting energy for the previous couple months with extremely no effects, so of direction I basically favor to commence a workout consultation plan on account that I by no ability workout....

No. 1 mile at 3.5 mph will not bring your heart rate up high enough or long to burn fat.
To lose weight, walk for 30 minutes every other day. On your 1 mile days, do an incline.

It all depends on how much food you consume per day. You could walk on your treadmill all day, and not lose anything if you don't maintain a balanced diet. And realize that you're not going to lose weight overnight. It takes time. Good luck!

If your calorie intake is less than your calorie output then you will lose weight.
Walking one mile at 3.5mph will probably burn only about 100 calories. If you eat a doughnut (200 calories) after that, then you are wasting time on that treadmill.

The most important thing to remember is you need to burn more calories than you consume to lose weight. It didn't help me much until I started watching what I was eating.
Good luck with your efforts!!!
