I think it is a little funny that people assume that a non-christian faith is a satanic one. Christians believe that you are either for God or against God, therefore they believe that all religions that do not worship their god are evil. Wicca is not satanic or evil in any sense. As some have mentioned, Wiccans don't even believe that Satan exists. They do however believe that they are held accountable for the good and bad that they do (karma) and live by the saying "do what you will, harm none." This is a little different from Christian beliefs.. Christians have many rules and regulations to follow, but believe that ANY sin can be forgiven (except for denying God.. but murder-forgivable).
Usually when people think of spells they think of Bewitched or Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but as some have also mentioned, spells are very similar to prayers (just a little more extravagant).
I can not speak for every Wiccan, but... just as there are some Christians who do not lead perfect lives (some are child molesters, murderers, and racists, etc).. there are some Wiccans who aren't exactly good people either. This is just the result of the choices that individual makes and not a reflection of their religion. I know that a lot of people believe that Wicca is a satanic religion, but the only satanic religion is Satanism (which is COMPLETELY different). If you are Christian, I would hope that your faith has taught you to not judge others and their choices. According to the Christian faith, God is the only judge. I also think that it is strange that Hinduism, Shamanism, and Buddhism are not thought of as satanic religions by the Christians.. they do not share they same views as Christianity either. Of course, that would be rediculous.. just as rediculous as thinking that Wicca is satanic!

Christian Wicca is a mystery to so many. C.W. is an eclectic form of Christianity. Those who can not consider any other teachings except the Bible are very uncomfortable with this religion. Christian Wicca believes in the trinity of God the Father, God the Mother (Goddess), and the Son God Jesus. We also study and practice the principles of the Bible, Kabbalah, Gnostic Gospels and Wiccan teachings. Possibly the most important concept of C.W. is their inclusion of the Divine Feminine. Basically, there can not be a birth with out a father AND a mother. We worship the Mother Goddess as having equal power in creation. The Mother is present in every aspect of Spiritual teachings, even the Bible. (Although you have to look hard to find it there.) Also, there is a difference between being Christo-pagan and being Christian Wiccan. Before you go on the air with your report, look up the two and take note of the major differences. I won't do it here because it will simply get too lengthy. Just know that they are different. I am often criticized by Christians and Wiccans alike. (More so Christians. Wiccans tend to be more open-minded.) I hope I have answered some of your questions. Good luck with your radio report....Blessings!

Wicca is not satanic, because that would require Wiccans to believe in Satan, which they don't.
Wiccans may cast spells during ritual, but basically value spirituality over magic, and thus put less importance on the spell work. The magic is more of a Wiccan prayer, from what I understand.
Wicca has some lovely core concepts and is very earth-based and peaceful. I tried to follow the Wiccan Way, but was chastised too many times for refusing to give up wizardry (slightly darker stuff). Hey, to each her own, right?

Wicca isn't Satanic because Wiccans aren't Satanists. Wicca and Satanism are two very different things. As a matter of fact, both get highly offended if you confuse them.
A lot of Christians think that if you're not a follower of their God, then you must obviously be serving their Satan. So, the most common religion mislabeled as Satanism, is Paganism and Wicca, because they follow both Gods and Goddesses.
And a lot of Christian will argue that Pagans and Wiccans may not realize they're serving the Christian Satan through their workings, but they are, according to Christians. Well, with that argument, Christians are serving their own Satan by celebrating what they think are their holidays. Ever wonder what the Easter bunny, eggs and pastel colors had to do with Easter? Bunnies, eggs, and pastel colors were used as symbols of the new year, and new beginnings in the Pagan festival known as Ostara. Christians also adopted the Pagan practice of decorating the evergreen, kissing under the mistletoe, and burning the Yule log. The list just goes on and on.
A thing to note is that Christians don't like to be reminded of this. They'll simply say they don't mean to celebrate those particular things, it's just fun to do and there's not harm. Well, it seems like it's all about intent. Christians don't intended to celebrate original Pagan holidays, just like Pagans don't intend on serving the Christian Satan.
And yes, I do believe in casting spells, and I've done so many times. A thing to remember that spells aren't about mumbling a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, pointing your finger and having sparks fly everywhere. Generally speaking, spells are just very elaborate prayers.

WOW!! I am absoloutly dumbfounded by the number of positive answers!
I figured with this question that ignorance & intollerance would be prevalent! I expected the typical Christian dribble that anything that is not Christian is of the devil. Typical I am afraid, of those who chose to condemn rather than understand (BTW Christians are not the only ones guilty of this, I don't point fingers). I am hoping that you are looking for an honest answer, not just one that will validate a misconception perpetuated by the intolerant people. Maybe Satanic cults worship Satan but, being a witch myself, I can tell you plainly & clearly that we DO NOT!! We don't recognize the existance of demons or the devil, so how could we worship something that isn't? We are often accused of invoking "evil spirits", but no self-respecting "witch" would do something like that! Evil exists, but not as Satan or demons! Anything remotely like that goes against our principles. We do our best for humanity and the environment. If we were being influenced or led by the devil, why would he teach us how to use healing herbs and why would he want us to advocate saving the earth? Why would he want us to use our very being to help others? Doesn't that sound more like of "God" than of "Satan"? Can we be so mislead that we spend our entire lives doing good things for people & nature and helping in any way that we can that we are actually doing the work of the "devil"?!? Get real.
I hope you are open minded and not pay attention to the ones who try to connect the two. Witchcraft has absoloutly nothing to do with Satanism, and if people would open their minds and hearts and books (other than the bible) they would see this. Truth be known Satanism is closer related to Christanity than witchcraft since you acknowlege the existance of such a being and we don't.
Sorry for the ranting, but sometimes the Religious Reich gets to me.

No it is not. Satan is a Christian ideal. Christianity will claim it to be satanic because of ignorance. Look it up on the internet. It is the oldest religion out there that preaches love for all of Earth's creatures. Wiccans do not believe in the devil. It is an Earth based religion. Wicca is a branch of Paganism. Paganism includes such religions as Shinto, Taoism, Buddhism, and Hindu.
As for magic, hardly. They are just simple ceramonies to help bring peace. Just like how Christians baptise children. It's a form of magic that, they believe, banishes sin.
The only Satanic Wiccans you will find are those in Hollywood movies.
Be prepared to a bunch of ignorant fundies to tell you otherwise.
Peace be with you

In Wicca there is not a devil. Satan is a Christian invention, so only they would believe in such a being. So no, it can not be satanic. Those that are afraid of you leaving Christianity would have you believe so, though, so you won't leave their church.
Do we believe we can cast spell? Do you believe praying works? Same thing, different path to it. Creating a spell is just creating the positive energy needed to create the desired results. You are telling the powers that be your wishes and your will, and thanking them for giving you what they have. Are you not doing the same when you pray?
I hope that clarifies it a bit.

Wicca is not satanic in any way. Christians, usually those who are afraid and ignorant. will try to make Wicca out to be something wrong and evil. It's fairly predictable behavior for them, actually, because they (and many other religions) are lead to believe that their God would have them condemn those who believe something other than their own "truth." Wicca is more about embracing the elements and using nature for healing. It's very benign when practiced by mature (and I don't mean old) believers. Wiccans live by a simple creed - An ye harm none, do what ye will. Not very scary - huh?
Believe what gets you through the day. Be kind to others and to yourself.

Wicca is not Satanic. in fact, Wiccans don't even believe in the Christian entity "Satan". Wicca is one of Nature religions that worship The Lord and The Lady, divine symbols of Nature's balance.
i'm not Wiccan but have quite a few Wiccan friends, all of whom are good folks who are concerned for The Earth's well being, traits i admire. having witnessed a few of their celebratory rites i find their religion quite lovely ... poetic.
PS. a spell is like a prayer.

I am Wiccan and it has absolutely nothing to do with Satan because Wiccans don't even believe in Satan. Wicca is a neo-pagan earth based religion that focuses on the worship of nature such as the earth, the elements, and the sun and the moon, and that everything from the earth is sacred. And yes, I do believe its possible to do spells, it's all about whether you believe in or not.

As a follower of Wicca I can tell you truthfully that it is not Satanic in any way. Wiccans don't believe in Satan for one thing, Satan is a Christian construct. Wicca is based on nature and the earth, Wiccans believe in a God and a Goddess- neither of which is evil. We believe in the rule of Harm None- not thyself or others(mentally or physically) Hope this helps
