Not saying that I would purpose to my boyfriend but I am not against it.
I think men should ask women but a lot of men take there time with it. Why should women have to wait around for a man to do it. If she knows what she wants then she should go out and get it. No better time then the present right??
Its also like that saying "why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?" She put him on the spot. Does he really want marriage. I commend her!

My lover and I came to a mutual agreement about getting married. There wasn't any of this game of lack of communication in our relationship. I truly feel for a marriage to last there has to be open communication and equal allowances for expression no matter what the sexes are. The whole proposal at a nice resturant game with a ring can come later if that's what you like, but I think that women who sit around wondering "does he feel as strongly as I do" or "when is he going to propose" are lacking self confidence and the ability to communicate with their partner. If someone has so little confidence in their relationship or little ability to communicate with their partner, what makes them think marriage is a good idea? Can we talk about the high divorce and unhappy marriage rate right now?

My lover and I are equals. He is my partner and I am his. We do things together. That includes gaudy romantic cliches. I really couldn't stand a man who thought of women as any less than people.

I personally think that it is traditionally man's duty to propose purely because, well besides organising the cars and drinks for the wedidng what other sources of input do most men put in. However for all those great romantic men out there you know how to have a say in your big day and my thumbs go up to you!Women love men's input with ideas!

I would like to propose to my boyfriend. I think it would be different and more fun. Plus I know that would take a lot of pressure off of him. Hes really shy about this kind of stuff and I don't know if he could do it. I think I would have to make the move, but I'm not sure.

I think instead of proposing, couples should talk about getting engaged/married. It's not something to beat around the bush about or wonder about. My husband and I both brought up the subject of marriage different times and when we both felt like we were ready, we announced we were getting married.

I proposed to my husband and yes we got married seven yrs ago still going strong now. I asked him if he wanted to marry me and he said yes so we got married. Just a conversation over a cup of tea, but I have known him for a year or so prior asking.
Maybe it's weird but at the time I knew there was another girl who liked him very much and I beat her to it LOL

Does anyone really propose anymore? I think most people come to a mutual agreement, and then the proposal is just a formality, so I am not sure if it matters who proposes.

I wouldn't want to propose to my b/f. I didn't even want to pressure him in proposing to me. Lucky for me, he proposed on his own. If I were a guy, I'd be honored if my g/f proposed! What a brave girl!

Your generation shouldn't be so up tight. I'm sure a man feels flattered. If you have expectations of what men and women should or should not do, be aware that most men are now just sperm donors. Bummer.

he said yes thats all that matters. I dont think she got down on her knees and gave him a ring. If it comes up while in a conversation and he says yes well that is cool. If he wants later he can buy her the ring and ask her again.
