I used to drink like 32 ounces pop a day if not more. I have been trying to only drink one pop a week and drink mostly water! I have a baby so its really hard to go running walking etc. I can do excerises around the house but nothing that will cost money! I can do crunches etc. and I have a question...If you lay flat on the floor and bring ur head up slightlty and lift your legs straight up it looks like your sitting while you laying down will that help lose your tummy or does that only work for your legs> what will help me lode weight?????

Hey I have a good idea--
You mentioned hthat you have a baby....and well I guess it depends on how old and how cold it is there, but, you could put him/her in a stroller and take him/her for a walk or run.

You will be spending time with your child, and losing weight!

And yes, that exercise would help with you abs.

I noticed that you said you could do anything that doesn't cost money...but, what about 10 dollars?

I do this Denise Austin Boot Camp tape and it's amazing!
She has always been hard, and she doesn't give good signals to new moves but it is still an excellent workout.

It has 3 parts that would definitely help you to lose weight and tone up.

Also, try to fit in a lunch...

Hope this helps!!!

That's a tough one because your budget is basically $0 and you have 4 months to lose 35 pounds or about 2 pounds a week. That is goal is somewhat aggressive with no added machinery to help get your heartrate and metabolism up.

Since you aren't eating, your metabolism has frozen.

I can't think of any way to do this without either a) spending more money on at the least more food and a jogging stroller or b) using some fad diet like Adkins which may help you lose weight but requires a lot of discipline to reach Ketosis and will put you in a grumpy mood all day. You don't want the added stress when trying to take care of a baby.

Crunches alone will not increase your heart rate to burn the calories and without burning the calories you won't see the result of your crunches. *You cannot spot reduce. Spot reduction is a myth.*

The only thing I can think of that may be beneficial is to either wake up an hour before the child(ren) or go to bed after they do and pop in a workout DVD such as Tae-bo or The Firm. Definitely eat more (yes more) and more frequently to increase your metabolism.

BTW, GorillaMyke has some serious muscle mass and therefore, he has the metabolism to lose the weight so quickly. If there is any way you can get some kind of weight training into your routine, do so.

1. Take it one step at a time

Start by paying attention to what you eat. Cut back on fat and sweets and add more fruit and vegetables. After you have that under control, add exercise. If you hate to exercise try it for only 15 minutes a day at first, then a 1/2-hour. Keep in mind that while you are exercising you are burning calories and not eating. Also, it will be easier if you chose an activity that you enjoy.

2. Find a friend

It is always good to have support when you are trying to lose weight. Find a friend who wants to lose weight and compare notes, weigh-in together and maybe even have a contest.

3. Use weights

Working out weights will build muscle and raise your metabolism so you will burn more calories. Also, muscle takes up less space than fat so you will be smaller ( but probably weigh more).

4. Eat fewer carbs

Don't eat as much bread and pasta and you will see a difference.

5. Set a goal

Set a deadline to lose the weight and write it down. For example, ' By Dec 14/04 I will weigh 150 lbs or less'. Put it somewhere you will see it daily.

6. Give up soda

If you drink a soda or 2 a day you are adding empty calories. If you find it hard to stop completely, cut back at first and drink water instead.

7. Grill or boil

Avoid fried meat, grill and use lots of spices. You will get used to it and probably enjoy it more.

8. Don't buy junk food

When you go shopping, don't go on an empty stomach and you will be less likely to buy junk food. Keep your home 'junk food free' so you won't be tempted to indulge.

9. Eat breakfast

Consume most of your calories early in the day and always eat breakfast. Don't eat after 8pm and not only will you avoid those added calories but you will sleep better.

10. Give yourself a treat

When you tell yourself that you can't have something you want it more. Give yourself a treat once a day ( ie. half a cookie) and you won't feel you are missing out.

11. Use smaller plates

Trick yourself into believing that you are eating more by using a smaller plate.

12. Drink lots of water

Drink water when you are feeling hungry and you will get that 'full' feeling.

13. Don't eat everything on your plate

Many times we eat just because it's there. Pay attention to when you have had enough.

14. Eat five or six meals a day

Eating more frequently will keep you from getting too hungry.

15. Plan your workout sessions

Write your workout sessions in your journal or planner.

16. Stay away from fad diets

Fad diets don't work. If you lose weight fast chances are that you will gain it back ( and more) just as fast. It takes time to put it on and time to take it off.

17. Do several workouts a day

While you are watching TV do crunches and leg lifts.

18. Measure your food

If you decide to have junk food for a snack - be sure to measure and control what you eat.

19. Keep pre-cut vegetables

...and ward off those cravings.

20. Create Good Habits

35 lbs by May is possible.

What you have to do is move more and eat less, and it won't cost you a million $$.

As far as diet goes, you are right to cut out soda. Also remember that many coffee and tea drinks (think Starbucks etc.) also have tons of extra and empty calories. If you drink these types of drinks factor them into your daily calorie consumption.

Try to eat smaller portions of whole grain/ less processed foods. Eat fruits and veggis as snaks instead of candy or chips etc. Eat a salad and drink a glass of water before your main meal, it will make you feel fuller and you will eat less.

As far as excercise goes, walking is an excellent, low impact way to move. Get a pedometer and walk with your baby in the stroller. I do this, and it only takes about 45 mins every other day. If you don't want to do that, get an excercise DVD by Denise Austin. All of her videos are excellent!! And she has everthing from aerobics, pilates, yoga, body scupting, etc.

Finally, there are many on-line fitness websites which are free that can give you diet and excercise tips, I like http://www.sparkpeople.com .

Good luck and I hope you are a big loser in the end. :)

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!

I have done weight watchers in the past and believe me when you are commited to the program it works. I know you said you wanted to do something that didn't cost money but there is a deal where if you sign up for the monthly pass it comes directly out of your account...it is less than 10/week. I recommend that. Good luck!

you said you have a baby you can take your baby 4 a walk for harlf hour. you do lose tummy weight with that exersice the best one is probly Basic chrunches by Lieing flat on your back, knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Put your hands behind your head for support only, not to take any weight. Using your stomach muscles only, rise a few inches off the ground, hold for three seconds and return to your starting position. Do three sets of 15. Or you canLie on your back with your left knee bent towards your chest and your right leg extended a few inches off the ground. Place your hands behind your head and lift your shoulders slightly. Swap your legs slowly, keeping your feet and shoulders off the ground. Do three set of 15.
