I have gained some weight over the past 2 years...basically a layer of fat all over (gross!)

i can feel the muscle underneath, but it is now covered!

I am planning on eating healthier...but will jogging help?

I am not a fan of the gym...if i start a jogging habit, will my WHOLE body benefit from this?

What parts will benefit muscle wise and which will benefit fat wise.

jogging is a great way to burn fat or any cardio exercise. the most important thing is the shoes get good ones . there are stores that will fit you and have you try them out on a treadmill.
also Runners World website has lot of tips and how to start out with a run/walk program. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-261--2201-0,00.html

Jogging is great. Make sure you get some good shoes with support. Jogging will help you lose inches and weight fastest all over.

Don't forget about the shoes and find other exercise as you don't want to jog everyday: walking, speed walking, walking/jogging, bike riding-paddle the whole time/don't glide ride, etc.

Best of luck.

Jogging will help melt the fat off your body. I've done this myself and lost about 20 lbs, just with jogging alone. Your legs will get in shape the most, but over all your body will lose the fat. You can't target specific area of fat to "jog" off ( I wish -lol), but you will see a difference, especially when you go clothes shopping, you'll have to buy a smaller size (wohoo!).
You should give yourself a jogging goal, example : Jog for 60 min or 6 miles.
Start easy 10-20 min and every week add 5 min or 1/2 a mile, until you reach your goal of 60 min, or 6 miles. Keeping a workout journal is a good idea too, to track your progress.
Get a good pair of running shoes, comfy clothes and good luck w/ your goal!
