In the short run, you should have her seen by a vet - this needs to be treated to prevent (or remove) any infection. Then you need to find out why it happened to begin with; either something cut her foot, or it got very dry. If the cat goes outside in winter, salt on driveways and sidewalks can cause drying and cracking of the foot pads.

Get to a vet quick before it gets too bad. It is not normal.
Would it be normal if you had a split in the back of you foot?

Well, it's not normal, but don't freak out. The vet can give you some ointment and maybe a bandage. It will heal.

It doesn't sound normal, but doesn't sound too serious either. Was she out in the salt? Salt is not good for animals feet and can cause this to happen.
