Yep, I read those regularly, as I am invariably one of the .01% of the population that gets the rare side effects, and I caught on early to how much of my medicine was making me sick.
However, once when asking the pharmacist for the physician informational packet, he told me that the average layman cannot comprehend these things, and that I was very lucky to be able to do so without medical training.
Personally, I don't think it is that inaccessible, especially the area you are referring to. Usually that stuff is listed by name, and even charted. Anyone with a good reading level and perhaps a medical dictionary, can learn quite a lot. I also find that I understand most of it in context, even if I cannot always adequately explain it to another layman.
The Lysine, btdt, totally agree. And that, for me, was a direct result of studying the informational packet on the Rx. Listed under the section of "mechanism of " meaning how the medication actually works. It stated that the Rx interfered with the transfer of certain enzymes neccesary to the reproduction of the virus.
Turning next to good alternative healthcare information, I found that is exactly how the Lysine works-as you said, cheaply & withouyt side-effects.
Money is the bottom line, because an amino acid (Lysine) or Vitamin cannot be patented, so the big business drug industry gets no profits.
Same reason that FDA loves to assert that either "no studies have been done" or "studies have shown no effect".
The truth of the matter is that there are plenty of double-blind, placebo controlled, clinical trials conducted in European countries who have a stronger tradition of natural healthcare.
A recent study on the use of St. John's Wort for depression, conducted here in the US, "proved" it to be worthlless.
What was notmentioned is that the dosage used was 300 mg. daily, only one third the amount used in clinical trials outside the US which results showed it IS effective.
In Germany alone, mild to moderate depression is routinely treated with 300 mg. St. John's Wort 3 times daily. The results are fantastic, and no side-effects, and vastly cheaper than our chemical (Rx) SSRI's that produce wicked, often unbearable side effects.
An educated consumer is an empowered consumer, thanks for raising this issue and getting people to think about the way we "treat" medical conditions here in America-rather mindlessly at best, but there is hope!

I got diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about 3 yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I know a lot of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/8Mtr5 everything improved.
Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my body in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This system gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.
