My cat has for some reason started peeing everywhere. My mom thinks that my cat might have a disease, and I am hoping she doesn't. Has anybody ever had something like this happen to their cat,and was it a disease or something.
Thanks,

Ok,shes a small female 8yr old mixed cat. If shes been living with the same people and dogs for the past 3yrs I don't think shes marking her territory.

Hi there...generally, when a cat urinates inappropriately outside the box frequently it is indicative of a lower urinary tract disorder/infection, which requires an evaluation by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Some cats suffer urinary obstructions which can be fatal within 24-48 hours.

However, if your cat isn't spayed this could territorial spraying, which then your cat will need to be spayed to stop the undesirable behaviour. More on spaying: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/the_feline_spay.html

Your cat may have Cystitis, check out the link to see if that's what it sounds like, AND take the cat to a VET.
Cystitis in Cats
Otherwise known as Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease or FLUTD
As many humans will know, cystitis is a very painful and distressing problem.
In dogs and humans it is usually caused by infection in the bladder, but this is not the commonest form in cats.
Except for older cats with kidney insufficiency (see kidney disease) it is unusual to see infection in cats' bladders.
Their urine is a good disinfectant.
It has been known for a long time that cats fed on a dry diet are at some risk of developing crystals in their urine and that these can irritate the bladder or urethra and may lead to stones.
Recent research has shown that almost all cats fed on dry cat food will have crystals in their urine, but not all of these have cystitis.

It could be what my cat had.
My cat did the same thing. He had a blockage in his urinary tract and peeing everywhere is their way of getting your attention so you can help them. Apparently by the time they are at this stage they are in alot of pain and discomfort so please take your cat to the vet ASAP. If it is a urinary tract blockage they will put your cat on medication to dissolve it. My cat, Sylvestre had to stay overnight to make sure he responded to the medication. It is a very serious matter if the blockage is not dealt with so please take your cat to the vet immediately!
The vet said this is very common in cats and it is sometimes caused by eating food high in ash content. We changed Sylvestre's diet to the Hills Science brand since it has the lowest ash on the market and he never had any more blockages.
Hope your cat is OK, all the best.

most cats start doing this when under stress.
A sudden change in the home company that is staying to long a new pet a new person or some thing that drastically changed in the home. It can also happen if you don't keep the cat box VERY clean. You would not like to use a bathroom that is messy and smelly. Good luck

Bladder or urinary tract infection most likely. A simple antibiotic will clear it up.
Is the cat fixed? Un spayed cats often start peeing when they reach maturity to mark a territory.
You must spay or neuter a cat for it to be a house pet.

Any new additions to the house? A new pet or person? Cats mark their territory with their urine. Usually, however, this tends to get more out of control with males rather than females. If there hasn't been a change in the household, take her to the vet. She may have a medical problem.

first of all if its a girl, then idk, but if its a boy its a urine tract infection. ..they have blockage down there and so they cant pee well, so they show u that it hurts by doing it everywhere...also they find discomfort, so they do it wherever they are...my cat had the smae thing..u can either take him to the vet and have them pump out his bladder using a catheter...but there is no garuntee....we had to have him have surgery witch costed only 1000 bucks, but hes garunteed no more blockage.
hope the kitty gets better soon
good luck

Could be a number of things. She could be actually spraying to mark her territory. She could have a UTI. See your vet. Some cats are prone to bladder infections.

If you're providing a litter box...perhaps the cat does not like the litter (yes some are very picky about what they use!)...also they like a CLEAN litter box, so scoop it twice a day, add fresh litter, and change it weekly. Also make sure the litter box is in a "private" place...not in a busy area like a kitchen

Hi i have had a cat that pooped in the litter box but peed any where but there,i called the vet and they said it was a behavioral problem and it needed to get help from a animal specialist.so sadly i had to get rid of her to someone with a little more interest in that.
