My 13 month old plasma popped something & the screen went dark - the repair people are crying " parts not available now" . . . Has anyone else encountered this ?

yes. My husband fixes tvs. A lot of times it depends on the brand. The Generic and cheap brands stop making parts when they stop making that model usually. We have had several Vizio plasmas that were 1 1/2 -3 yrs old, and the parts are no longer available, and the tv's are only good for parts.

However, most of the higher-end brands...Toshiba, Hitachi, Sony...they make the parts for years for the repairs, so they are much more worth the money.

good Plasmas have extra perfect blacks and deeper colors yet are priced slightly better than liquid crystal exhibit's. They reflect mild from the exhibit screen if the television is watched in a lighted room. best of the line liquid crystal exhibit's from Sony's XBR line or the extra recent Samsung grant a image fairly much as good because of the fact the extra perfect Plasmas and lightweight in a room isn't a topic. in the experience that your going with a exhibit screen length 40 two inch or smaller, i might probable elect a liquid crystal exhibit. Going with a great exhibit screen length of 50 inch or above i might heavily look on the liquid crystal exhibit and the Plasma for a side by potential of side comparisons. locate them the two on your budget, then do a assessment for the terrific basic image.
