I'm in college and live alone and have a 1.5 qt. slow cooker that I've never used and wondered if anyone had any good recipes? I'm not picky so anything would be great!

You can cook just about anything in the slow cooker but we tend to favor meats and stews. Today we did a pork roast and did it on the high setting for about 6 hours. We added about a cup of ginger ale and a package of onion soup mix. It was delicious.

Another of our favorites is Russian chicken. Just put in chicken parts, some Russian dressing - maybe half a cup to a cup for your size of cooker, some apricot jam or spread, maybe half a cup, and a package of onion soup mix. Cook on high for about 4 hours or until done.

Do a search for slow cooker recipes. You will find tons of ideas. And just do half or one third of the recipe for your size of cooker. Best of luck with it, and enjoy!

I would start this at around 3:00 in the afternoon. Melt-In-Your-Mouth Short Ribs "Slow-cooked in a mouthwatering sauce seasoned with thyme and garlic, these tender short ribs are full of flavor." INGREDIENTS (Nutrition) 3 pounds beef short ribs, cut into serving-sized pieces 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves, crushed 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 (10.5 ounce) can Campbell's® Condensed French Onion Soup 1 (12 fluid ounce) bottle dark ale or beer Hot mashed potatoes or egg noodles Place the beef into a 3 1/2- to 6-quart slow cooker. Add the brown sugar, garlic, thyme and flour. Toss to coat. Stir the soup and ale in a small bowl. Pour over the beef. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 9 hours* or until the beef is fork-tender. Serve with the mashed potatoes.

I make soups and stews in my slow cooker. I usually cook for 2 people. Here is my favorite beef stew recipe: http://simcooks.com/34/slow-cook-beef-stew/

Leftovers are great and can be eaten with garlic bread and plain white rice.

The soups I make are usually Chinese soup - really easy recipes. If interested, do check out my food blog http://www.simcooks.com under the category 'soup'.

All the best.

Kielbasa with onions.
