i usually wipe back, then polish, then fold up a few sheets (2ply just to be safe) and wrap it round a finger and go to work cleaning up the inside... gotta be through :) or just get a bidet

Front to back, never side to side. Remember, if you wipe more than twice, you are playing with it!
