When will U.S. troops be out of Iraq? I know it won't be for a while, since it looks like Bush might be sending 30,000 more. But when will they finally be out? Well they still be there when Bush leaves office? Or is there a chane they will be gone by then. One idea I have is that there's a small chance they could be pulled out about a year from now. The 'troop surge' will not do much, and that might prompt the Bush administration to call home all the troops because it will finally become clear to them that there is no real military solution to Iraq.
When do you see the Iraq war being over in terms of U.S. involvement?

With any luck, the Bush administration's new plan for a troop "surge" and an increase in war spending to the tune of another $100 Billion will be put to a Congressional vote and struck down. Let's face it, Iraq has been out of control for a cool minute. The President who won't admit a mistake isn't even willing to say that we're winning anymore. Iraq has devolved into a civil war, if anything the violence has increased, we've already spent $500 Billion we didn't have in the first place on the war, and, worst of all, we've lost 3,011 soldiers to this monstrosity, with many more thousands injured. Our nation has been weakened by the lack of National Guardsmen and women during disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, as well as the political division the war itself has created amongst us all. It's time to pull back, regroup, and get our national strength and integrity back. We aren't doing any more good there that isn't outweighed by the bad actions our very presence spawns in the region. We need diplomacy, and we need to try to regain our international respect and economic stability instead of being a nation of pig-headed xenophobes that pay way too much for gas.
That said, I believe that if our Democratic-run Congress is given the power to influence the course of the war, we may see major troop withdrawal by the end of Bush's term in office. He will not voluntarily end the war himself, because that would be like admitting he made a mistake, which he won't do. If Congress can't bring us peace by '08, then the unpopularity of the war amongst Americans may spur them to elect a Democrat to the Presidency in 2008. If that takes place, the war will more than likely be ended within the first two years of their administration. Frankly, I don't believe the war can last very much longer regardless of who holds power, because the American people apparently do not want a war, plain and simple, and we the people are indeed the bosses of this country.

When will troops come out of Iraq is a hard question. Most might think that this is a easy question, but its not. I have over 20 yrs in the military and I will be reaching my 20 yrs in police department. I have seen my share of the world. In USA street of Brooklyn from Central America,Europe, and IRAQ. I feel is easy to say its some one else problem and not ours. Well I hear that a lot lately, Again I say its a hard question, with a lot of people saying they have the answers. Words are great but what about your action.

The war would have been over a long time ago. You cannot fight a politically correct war, nor can you fight a war by the opposition. I'm in Iraq right now. They have all these stupid "rules of engagement" that basically tie the soldiers' hands behind their back. If they don't get any more strict with the insurgency, then we're going to be here for a long time. Enough is enough....we need to kick some butt so we can send all of our soldiers home. Also, the new Iraqi government needs to get off its butt and do its job. They're not doing anything but getting paid. When we finally leave here, then they'll be forced to do their job.

Never! I just recently got out of the Army as of December 18, 2006. I'm glad I don't have to go over there anymore. I went twice to Iraq. I been in for almost 8 years. I tell you the Army is stressful man, I'm beginning to look younger again. No more stress marks on my face and things like that. Bush is trying to send 20,000 more troops over there is what I've heard and Congress is fighting it.

The Democrats in Congress had done nothing yet for the US withdrawal in Iraq. Maybe, they should already force President Bush to declare the US troops to leave Iraq soon to appease the Iraqis and the international community.

they were involved in 'Nam for ten years and no one paid much mind for the first six. We're only on year 4 or so now. Another six years without a solution will see changes. I can see it going through another election.

When the playboy politicians come to their senses.

PS: I hope they leave; these men are dying unnecessarily to a useless cause. They have to come home to a well-deserved rest.
