No. It is connected to the brain and is part of the central nervous system. Just damaging it can cause paralysis and loss of movement. Completely injuring it will cause complete loss of feeling and voluntary body movement. Without a spinal cord, many of the body's systems won't function, so no, you cannot live without your spinal cord.

yea you can but you will be connected to machines to hold you up in a power chair for the rest of your life cause without ur spinal cord you cant lay down flat or stan up or lean or do any movement with any part of your body.......so basically if you aint got a spinal cord then you are gonna be in pain every second of your life

It's impossible, you would be paralyzed. It is the trunk of the Central Nervous System. the Skeletal and Muscular system are useless if there is no materialistic nervous connection from the brain to the organs. It has many functions. Nerves below C1 are paralyzed. Only the face organs move and others. If it is possible, there has to be a life support machine attached to the Vertebrae until death.

with life support (being put on a ventilator and having an external heart pacemaker inserted) you actually can live without a spinal cord.
the nerves which innervate the heart originate at T4, so without those nerves, the heart would beat too slowly to sustain life- but again, a pacemaker could overcome that.
the nerves which innervate the diaphragm originate even higher up, at C4. but even without the diaphragm, you can still use accessory muscles of respiration to breathe, although not very efficiently. again, with a ventilator, you could definitely survive.
